Quiet Demos

New Hymns for the Apathetic vers. 1.02
Welcome to the sonic world of Quiet. The items listed below are the demos that we as a group (or duo or duet, whichever you wish to refer to us as), have recorded. They are presented to you, the listener, in a convenient realaudio format. These recordings to not stream in realaudio though. They are, however, realaudio files and so are therefore reasonably small files for the length of the songs. In some cases, I had to only submit half of the longer songs to upload the file. These songs will me specified below. These songs were also recorded at home on a 4-track recorder, but considering that, and the compression they sound alright. So here they are, the sounds of Quiet. We hope that you enjoy them.

  • Keeper of the Clear

This is one of those half samples mentioned above. Keeper of the clear is a song about the loss of innocence and imagination and the rediscovery of those vital traits. This song features Kris Hough (me) on vocals as the Keeper in the middle.

    Hero

To be perfectly honest, this song was our attempt at a Jethro Tull song. I suppose that there is a touch of that there, but in that respect we largely failed. Still we like the song and I appologize for all the organ grinding...I got carried away. ^_^

    Shiver

Again a half song. This song is a nice atmospheric piece with a bridge that we absolutely adore. See if you can figure out what it is about...

    Cause and Effect

Cause and Effect is a nice little song with a great electric guitar solo from Nick in the middle. He says he is getting better even, so this solo could end up phenomenol. This song also features Nick's brother Sean on bass.

    Crash

Another half song. This is a timely tale of media intrusion and its toll.

    Winter

This is a song written by Nick before I entered the band. We realized that it would fit our format perfectly, so we worked up a version and here it is.

    Ghosts

A half song. This song is really a tragic love story involving the title beings. This is also the first song written collectively by Quiet.

    Shadows of Angels

This song was written by me (Kris), and I play the guitar and sing. It is fairly self explanatory, and features Nick on the organ.

    Late for the Show

This song has a decidedly Celtic flare, and is really just an all out war song. At least on the surface...

    In the Valley

This is a very odd song, and is practically an instrumental except for some eerie harmony work towards the middle of the song.

    Gremlins

This was our great experiment with a drum machine. We added those bits to this vampire tale well after it was written and it works sometimes. Still an interesting song.

    Apocalypse Culture

This is a menacing song about really...the end of the world essentially. Some tasty little electric guitar bits in this one enhance the mood.

    Crossroads

Now this is interesting. While digging through tapes this was discovered. It is technically the oldest Quiet recording and in fact features me only on backing vocals. Nick plays all the other parts, but we really like it and figure we will use it properly in the future.
