As you can probably tell by her high-pitched (and sometimes annoying) voice, Mai is a very energetic and bubbly girl. Her success as a female ninja has made her a bold fighter, as well as a sexy chick, in the bloody rings. She is graceful among the battlefields, seemingly dancing as her name "Mai (dance)" means. Many controversy has been made about her outfit being too scanty, but she nonetheless fights well in it, so who cares?

Mai and Andy Bogard have one of the coolest special opening when they fight each other! Mai, dressed in a wedding gown, tosses a bouquet at her lover, and exclaims "Time to surrender, Andy!", and changes into her ninja outfit. Andy catches the bouquet and hides it. Does this show their relationship or what!? Oh please, if those people at SNK have a heart, have these lovers finish it off in the church!

It seems that Mai has changed little, with her large array of super moves. Her ninjutsu, from "Musasabi no Mai (Dance of the Flying Squirrel)" to her "Hissatsu Shinobi Bachi (Sure-Death Silent Bee)" are all fun to watch, and feels darn good to pull off! Her speed helps her a lot, and though her normal attacks are average, Mai can be considered one of the funniest characters to use.
