*05/31/01 6:30 PM EST Flicker Records officially announces the signing of Phat Chance, a band composed of five teenage boys ranging from ages 14-18. The band will release their debut album Without You nationwide on August 28, 2001. The album's ten songs contain self-penned lyrics laced with a pop/rock sound and each member lending their hand to an instrument and songwriting.
Hailing from North Carolina, Phat Chance is made up of brothers Dallas and Justin Morgan, Bryan Nance, Brent Lain, and Brandon Johnson. The boys were discovered by Audio Adrenaline frontman and Flicker Records co-owner Mark Stuart, who soon signed the band to the label's roster.
"I was immediately attracted to this band after hearing their songs," said Stuart. "I knew this was a group of young guys who can write great songs, and play their own instruments, but most importantly, they love Jesus and have a real desire to encourage their peers through their music."
In support of the album, Phat Chance will tour on the Summer Jam 2001 tour with Anointed, Newsong, and Jake and beginning in September they'll embark on Festival Con Dios. The two tours alone with place the band in front of over 75,000 people.
"There is an immense amount of talent and potential for being such a young group of guys," said Greg Oliver, President of GOA, Inc. (Greg Oliver Agency). "After my team & I saw them live, I knew this was a group we had to pursue, especially with the touring they'll do this year alone, between the Winter and Summer Jam tours and Festival Con Dios. Phat Chance has an opportunity to impact their peers for Christ that most new artists don't have."
"Phat Chance is a great addition to the Flicker Records family," said Bob Herdman, President of Flicker Records. "Their music appeals to fans of the pop/rock sound that is so popular among teens. They're a group of guys who have a big future ahead of them and who are seeking to connect with their peers through the platform of their music."
Without You was produced Tony Palacios and Jason Burkum. The album's first single, "Without You," is going for adds at CHR and Rock radio June 22nd.
