The song a robin sings
Through years of endless springs
The murmur of a brook at eventide
That ripples by a nook where two lovers hide
Great symphonic theme
That's Stella by starlight
And not a dream
My heart and I agree
She's everything on earth to me
<lengthy instrumental interlude>
My heart and I agree
She's everything on earth to me
She's everything on earth to me

Alternative version:
"Stella by Starlight" was recorded by Dick
Haymes Feb 13, 1947 on the Decca
label, and by Frank Sinatra March 11, 1947
on Columbia. I don't know if Ray
Charles ever recorded it but it isn't listed
in the discography at
http://www.raycharles.com/. And the Frank
Sinatra web site doesn't seem to
have the lyrics for this one.
Here's the lyrics as printed in the Reader's
Digest "Treasury of Best Loved
Songs" and some interesting background information
they included.
"The Uninvited" was a 1944 film starring
Ray Milland and Ruth
Hussey - and one beautiful musical
theme by Victor Young. In
discussing the theme with lyricist
Washington, Young identified
it as "Stella by Starlight", referring
to a character in the film
and the photography of the sequence
it accompanied. Ned stayed
with Young's title but found that
there was just one place in the
lyric where he could make it fit.
Stella by Starlight

Another songbook shows different lyrics for
the last two lines with separate
female and male versions like this:
(Girl:) My heart and I agree he's everything
on earth to me
(Boy:) She's all of these and more,
she's everything that you'd adore
