BIOGRAPHY

Read Epitaph's biography here. This one comes directly from the official Epitaph Homepage.

I against I started out in 1994 in a little town in The Netherlands called Dordrecht. Ronald (guitar/vocals) and Jasper (drums) knew each other from High school and started to play together on buckets and an acoustic guitar. They played some ska-songs but that didn't really worked out. But because they wanted a real band they searched a bassplayer and on Lowlands (a Dutch music festival) they met, because of a common friend, Bob. So they started to rehearsel a couple times and they found out it was working out well. They called themselves I against I. Later they found out that it was an album (and a song) from the punkband Bad Brains. Biggest influences: Dead Kennedys, Bad Religion and some other bands.
So after that they recorded two demos, but I don't know much about them (see records-section). Their second one was distributed by Commercial Suicide and was called I against I. And after their performances on the Noorderslag festival in 1996 and some other festivals they signed on Epitaph. After that they recorded together with Frank Reijgersberg the EP 'Top of the World.' This EP featured four songs: Top of the world, Chaos Days, Look inside and the Beatles-cover I wanna hold your Hand. 'Top of the World' is only available in Europe.
At the end of 1997 they recorded their debut album 'Headcleaner' in The Blasting Room in Ft. Collins Colorado together with famous punkveterans Bill Stevenson and Stephen Egerton. On the 13th of February, Headcleaner was released in Europe and on the 6th of October in the USA. I against I toured intensively through Holland and Belgium and played with some famous punkbands like Descendents.
After lots of shows I against I decided to record some new stuff and so they went to the studio with producers Theo van Rock and Peter Rave who also recorded Rollins Band and Urban Dance Squad. So no famous punkproducers this time. The recordings resulted in the album "I'm A F***ed Up Dancer But My Moods Are Swinging" finally released in Europe on the 22nd of October 1999. Before the release I against I toured Europe with All and played on the Warped Tour '99 in Utrecht, The Netherlands. Maybe they now finally can go to the USA?
