Italian metal often makes me shudder, I just have to think of Rhapsody, Power Of Omens,...
So Inner Shrine were a real big surprise to me and their second album 'Fallen Beauty' is the
best I've ever heard in Gothic. All Death Metal roots from the three Italians have vanished
completely, so that the result is an album full of emotions, romanticism, classic music, but
also some brutality is left. So you can hear on this album many different things: acoustic
passages, bombastic keyboards, female voices sounding sometimes like angels, sometimes like
Dreams Of Sanity, rough male voices, but no growls. This mixture gives the album a very
dramatic, but also romantic and melancholic atmosphere. It's difficult to name any highlights
on this CD as it doesn't contain weak points and the different parts go into each other
without any breaks. The most disappointing fact is that the album is already finished after
only 42 minutes. Another stranger point about this CD is its cover you should make your own
opinion about. But it doesn't prevent me to give this album the maximum of points.
