Description:
The type 18 shuttlepod was designed in the early 2370's as a means for smaller starships, specifically the Defiant class escort, to be able to carry warp capable shuttlecraft. Because of the addition of the warp drives, the Type 18 has roughly twice the mass of the Type 15 and 16 sublight shuttlepods.
