SHILOH MACKENZIE...once the royal 'David' of the Waterloo-monarch of the Lone Star Empire...now a fugitive...
|
"Well, here we go, hellbent for leather. The road is a spine and humanity---a cold shiver..."
Shiloh MacKenzie is introduced in Part One of LAND OF THE ANCESTORS, while awaiting transport in the Seven Golden Cities of Cibola. Rage has brought him there--rage for the forces of darkeness that have further brought down his beloved home of Mexican Tejas. Of course, he was born long before 2882, the year of the Von Strauven Takeover of the planet Earth, and the abominable Great Partition that soon followed the Takeover. Shiloh has never known anything but the Lone Star Empire and the Hegelian Godstate of Texas, with its armed conquest of the American Southwest and the William Robert Kings ritualistic tyranny that forces the citizens of imperial Texas into subservient docility--pacifized by the rhetoric of 'higher standards of living' and a return to the highs of Classical America. This nightmare is called by the applauding masses of the Americas--'American Revivalism,' for it brings certain death to the progress made during the Golden Age of the Earth... Shiloh MacKenzie has come to the Seven Golden Cities of Cibola, enemies of the Lone Star Empire, because he has escaped the final curtain on the last vestiges of decent humanity that Mexican Tejas once enjoyed. He once was like many revolutionaries in the Lone Star Empire who had hoped to bring down the rule of the Hegelian Ultras and their hated state-religion that had seduced the once-proud and beautiful Tejano people of 'Hill Country' into unattainable dreams of returning to the glories of American past, the Pax Americana that made up the foundation of the movement called 'American Revivalism'... Shiloh barely escaped with his life--the power vacuum left after the murder of the last William Robert King was filled by a bloodthirsty warlord named Justinian Thoroughgood, a minor noble with talents more suited for the gladitorial arena. But Lord Thoroughgood was also known by his victims as 'The Destroyer', and his bloody ascent to power left the Hegelian Ultras beaten and the Lone Star Empire under a new era of unsatiated lust for power over the splintered Americas... Shiloh's escape was done not only done to save his own life from Thoroughgood the Destroyer's tide of blood, but to continue the fight to liberate his Mexican Tejas from the gross distortion of 'American Revivalism.' But Shiloh has also come to think even bigger, and maybe even accomplish the toppling of the Von Strauven Imperium itself--along with the power behind the throne, the hated Octopi Incorporated... Of course, having your 'distant' cousin on the imperial throne of the Earth also helps. All he has to do is reach her, on the Sea of Kansas, in her palace that is named after her. Shiloh will go to the Empress Kir-sten'ya and advise her on many great matters--even if he has always known her by the name 'Kirsten Satan Navarre'...

HESSIA DE LA TRANSOXNIA...Coca-Cola Neo-Classicist and rock-n-roll warrior princess...hellbent for vengeance...
|
"This is no time to let the good times roll. Let us make way for the sights that will save our souls" Hessia de la Transoxnia can trace her family origins back to the legendary times associated with the High Commonrealm Period and the Age of Brigda.--But this mattered little to the young girl she was once, growing up on the banks of the Mississippi River, in the City of Cahokia--'the City of the Sun.' The day she was carted off by Carthage Greys, militias of the constable-lords on the Mississippi fiefdoms, Hessia did not concern herself with the family tales of the legendary anarchist-assassin 'Chavo Prente'--a possible family progenitor and ancestor. Nor did she think about the mighty legend of folkore, 'La Transoxnia della Norte,' the once-kingdom of the Neo-Cola Classicists. The day Hessia became a slave, a piece of dehumanized property because of her demi-father's debts, and was sent to the Earldom of Birmingham, Hessia became reborn as the famous hero she is of her day. She was born again, through the fire and the battle to survive the highly competitve Noble Family Races, as a champion racer, world reknowned--until the day she decided to reinvent herself again, and claim her rightful birthrite...her freedom. One day Hessia was the loyal-employed #1 racer of the Earl of Birmingham, and his equally corrupt sovreign-lord, the Duke of Alabama. The next day she became a thief and a runaway, having escaped the bondage of her Noble Family captors and taking with her the same antiquatied Classical American 'Trans-Am Firebird.' That day she became an even bigger folkhero and one of the most popular charaters on the Eye-NC, the television-medium of the rulers of the planet, and the true power behind the Von Strauven throne--the Octopi Incorporated. The price on her head, set by the rulers of the Dukedom of Alabama, was followed by the publicity of having one of the Von Strauven Imperium's most famous racers pursue Hessia, and take up the 'badge and the Bible' of the Sherrifs of the Commandments. Hessia's almost-as-equally-famous pursuer was none other than Jefferson Davis--her one time racing rival! In the wastes of the western territory of the Lone Star Empire, Hessia became the leader of one of the most famous and feared gangs in history, the 'Bleeding Rose of Tejas,' made up of Neo-Cola Classicists (Excellsia, Ascensia, and Chassia) From there she terrorized the Tejas wastes and exacted tributes of the trenchant Surburban Fortressses and the evil Incorporated Franchises. The Bleeding Rose of Tejas would then haunt the same city of Hessia's birth, as it was, the place of origin for many of the Neo-Cola Classicists--Cahokia, 'The City of the Sun.' Fate could have permitted Hessia and her sister Neo-Cola Classicists to rule the streets of Cahokia, the last symbol of the Earth's 1000 year golden age, and be enshrined in the same halls that held the names of other Neo-Cola Classicists (such as Hessia's own grandfather, the late-captain of the Von Strauven Guard and Cavalry...) But fate did not permit this, and following the destruction of Cahokia by the Lone Star Empire, Hessia was forced to reinvent herself again... This time she hoped for a little more help, for she had revenge against the godstate of Texas in mind. Hessia hopes her arrival in the Sea of Kansas, and her meeting with the Empress Kir-sten'ya (a serpent-initiate witch...) will be the necessary ingredient to help her with her new incarnation...Vengeance!

JANUS SOUTHCROSS...Pagani Engineer and defender of her people...on a secret mission...
|
"This was once the land of my pagani people. They were destroyed by their own vainty. I am afraid this has always been the pitfall of my people..."
Janus Southcross is no stranger to her family history--or the tales of her pagani people. She grew up as a scrawny, brown-haired girl, on the praries of the Fellowship Lands, with the other nomadic families that made their way from the shores of Lake Agassiz in the 'Land of Unsheathed Community' to the mountains of Communitaria in the Holartic Kingdom of Tiaga. Janus grew strong under the wise tutledge of the pagani elders who recounted the histories of the fearsome Baal Lieutenents--the revered Latitudinarians--and the heroic Celestial Engineers--all of them ancestors to her, and the rest of the pagani people. By the time Janus was 10 years old she knew the complete history of America--from the era of the Tinsel Fortress Time--to the Age of Brigda--to the Von Strauven Takeover. Never did she think that she would make a mark on history, as she pursued her simple agrarian life as a nomadic family member, with only the constellations and the planets to make her imagination soar. The Crusader-state of Edessa changed all that. It was act--or be exterminated by a Christain-led holocaust that stank of hate for one-thousand years of pagan rule in America. Janus was captured, as was the rest of her family and relatives and brethren, and sent to the death camps in the 'Octopi Incorporated-sanctioned State of Edessa.' There she was forced to watch the annihilation of her pagani people under the cold glare of the Teutonic Knights--the cyborg-soldiers created by the Grand Masters of Edessa to implement their rule over the Fellowship Lands. Janus promised to never let the fire in her soul go out in the deathcamp she lived in for 8 years--but even she was filled with dread and resignation that her pagani people would be exterminated for all time. And then came liberation, the day that a 'war pact-bond' of Pagani Engineers stormed the death camp in Edessa, hoping to free their brethern. Janus was one of the lucky few who escaped with the intrepid Pagani Engineers--and she never forgot it! She soon became a pagan soldier and studied with other like-minded pagani people who wished to become the elite of the elite of their people to defeat Edessa and their demonic Teutonic Knights. Janus Southcross became a Pagani Engineer--a tradition that stemmed back to the Recognition Wars one-thousand years ago, and had continuity to the Celestial Engineers who flew on the Buren Expeditions in to the realm of the Outer Planets of the Solar System. Janus Southcross only revealed her pagan familiar-name to the members of her pact-bond who became Pagani Engineers right beside her--pagan compatriots like Geminia Ursa Minor, Galaxious Sartonious, Lilly Betelgeuse, and Jonny Serpens. Together they helped liberate thousands of pagani people who had been imprisoned and marked for extermination by the crusader-state of Edessa--but this was not enough! Guided by the Four Winds and the Holy Sephiroth that guided the Baal Lieutenents and Celestial Engineers before, Janus 'Kaiute' Southcross must lead her pact-bond to the Sea of Kansas and the Palace of Kir-sten'ya to meet the empress. But for Janus it will take her to assume the high-role of priestess of her people to start a dialogue between the pagani people and their expectant prophecy--the Serpent Queen...a serpent-initiate witch...the Empress Kir-sten'ya!
