1949 CHEVROLET FLEETLINE DELUXE
A Forgotten Relic My grandfather bought this car brand new in 1949. Through the years, the car was passed among his brothers and then eventually to his son. My uncle then passed the car along to me. Once I had permission to retrieve the car from its caretaker, I found the car in this condition. Much to my mother's surprise, she was quite disappointed at the condition of the car. Up until 10-12 years ago, the car had always been garaged.
Fifty years later, a new owner takes pride in bringing a lifeless family owned vehicle to its new home. The starter needed to be rebuilt, but the car cranked after careful care was taken to make sure the engine would not get damaged. With a new 6 volt Die Hard battery from Sears, the Fleetline fired up and it was moved into its own garage, after years of resting outdoors. A New Home
Progress to Date Work on the Chevrolet is slow and other priorities come first. But the 6 cylinder runs like a sewing machine and time is not the enemy for the Fastback any longer. My boys help in doing some wet sanding before the Fleetline gets its first coat of primer sealer. The brakes have been completely redone, the underside is like new, and the trunk floor has been refinished. All interior pieces have been repainted to their original colors. Hopefully, the Chevy will be have a complete coating of primer before summers end.
