1991 Dodge Spirit ES Turbo
Here is my daily driver. Its a 2.5L turbo with an A-413 automatic.
Those are 16x7.5" Fittipaldi Interlagos wheels with Falken Ziex 225/50-16 Tires.

This picture was taken after the first significant "upgrade" I made on the car. It wasconverted to
a "Mexican R/T" complete with a factory intercooler/radiator assembly from an '87 CSX.

The upper intercooler hose was modified to accept the BOV nipple from the stock turbo-to-throttle
body hose. A short section of hose connects to the original hose and the stock "in air-box" BOV.

Next step was installing the two piece intake and port matched head from my '88 Shelby Z.
At this point I also installed a Garrett turbo from a 1989 T-II car. This setup pulled the Spirit to a
best time of 14.83 at 92.4MPH. This was with a fully loaded car, and a slipping transmission
that within a week was no longer using second gear.

The stock BOV setup worked fine, but I had to install the 1st generation DSM BOV I had on hand...

Here is the transmission cooler mounted in its prior position. It added almost a full
quart of capacity. More fluid = cooler fluid = longer transmission life.

Here is the cooler with the external filter installed. (That's another quart of capacity added.)

The only exterior clue (ok aside from the wheels) that something is different about this Spirit
is the 3.5" chrome exhaust tip. It finishes off a complete 2.5" mandrel bent system with
quick-disconnects and an Edelbrock RPM Series Muffler.

I have installed some front seats from a (late) 1987 Daytona Shelby Z. They match
perfectly. Now the back seat looks out of place.

Finally, the stock core cooler proved to be too small and too restrictive. Here is the current
intercooler. It was built by Bell Engineering Group, Inc. for my friend Nic van Zyl. He had it
installed on his CSX. (Pics of his car can be seen Nic's 1987 Shelby CSX.)

Here is another view.

A few shots of the engine compartment now....

Here's a glimpse of one of the other modifications made recently.....

It is currently being "tested" for durability and performance. So, no data exists as yet.
Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
