I had been thinking about adopting another purrbie for months. Amber was coming up on a year old. Corky was seven years old and never did like Amber to get in her space. The only purrbie who'd play with Amber was Patches. Sadly, Patches went to the Rainbow Bridge within a month.
So here was Amber, still a kitten with no one to play with. I asked my neighbor if her eight year old daughter would like to come with me to the Animal Shelter to help me pick out a kitten to adopt.
There were quite a few kittens at the shelter and making a choice was going to be difficult. Since I was looking for a female, the choices were even fewer. Then, tucked in a corner with four other kittens was this tiny gray and white puff of fur with bright blue eyes, a wee young one with no mama and not even a litter mate to the kittens she was comforted by.
She's the one we agree on and the adoption papers are signed. Before we even leave the parking lot, the child *has* to open the carrier and love on the kitten. This kitten shot for the open window in a blur of white and gray! It was only the grace of God that allowed me to grab her by her right back leg and stop her!
Oh! This little girl was going to be a challenge as well as a great playmate for Amber!
