Buffy
aka Buffers
Buffy
Buffy at four months ~ August 1997
I met Buffy when she arrived at her first home in August 1997; she was four months old. She was adopted because Keisha was getting older and the family thought she needed a companion. Buffy began coming to visit on her own whenever Keisha didn't feel like making the trip down the hill and we became friends. I taught her to sit and fetch and before long we were buddies.

Several months after Buffy's family moved, Buffy became pregnant. That was the beginning of Buffy's journey to Thisildo Realm. Her humans seemed to have a difficult time bonding with Buffy and "her getting pregnant" cut any chances she might have had with them.

Her life from then on became the stuff of nightmares -chained in the back yard throughout her pregnancy and weaning of the litter. Fortunately, she was brought indoors a few days before the litter was delivered and was allowed to stay in the basement until the puppies were "walking". The only attention she received came as an afterthought to the family members visiting the puppies.

It would be several months after Buffy and her daughter arrived at The Realm before finally I grasped the concept of being a dog mom. It wasn't until after the part of the Great Escape that brought Buffy back home Thanksgiving Morning 1999 after four days of wandering the planet, that I truly bonded with her and became a Dog Mom.

Buffy takes her roll as protector very seriously and it didn't take her long to properly train me in how to walk with a dog and let her do her job! Here she's just heard the chatter of a squirrel. At the snap of the shutter, she was off after that pesky critter! LOL

Buffy takes over the loveseat
The very moment she returned from her walkabout, she became an Indoor Dog with complete freedom to go anywhere in the house.

I'd like to think I "gave" her the love seat, but we all know that's a lie! ;o)

Being outdoors with Buffy is a wonderful experience. Her nose doesn't stop for a second. She bounds from spot to spot following scents and pouncing on invisible enemies. When she runs through the trees, you can see the power and speed of this beautiful creature -from nose to tail tip is a perfectly straight line while distance eating paws pound the ground.

No scent escapes her notice and every scent will stop her flight dead while she investigates. Then it's off on another adventure.

Of course, there's always nap time and Buffy takes hers very seriously!

Then there's the Huntress side of Buffers! ;o) There is definitely something under this log and Buffy is determined to get at it!
