Hey. If you are here then you are probably a Cadet from either 225 or 186. If you are not you might not find any of this stuff remotely relevent or useful, so why don't you leave!

Right, the idea of this "site" is to act as an online web database about a wide range of ATC and cadet related material. Hopefully, it will continue to grow (so watch this space) and grow until it is masssive. Well, sort of massive, no bigger than 25mb because thats all the webspace I have on this server, unless I decide to move it of course. Anyway, here it is. Oh yeah, it ain't really in any order at the moment, will be sorted asap. Any ideas on a decent interface for this site?

Info on Corporals

Corporal is the first NCO (Non-Commisioned Officer) rank Cadets are able to Obtain. Promotion to Corporal takes an average of two years but it can be much more or much less. A Corporal is referred to as a Junior NCO (JNCO) and acts as a liason between the Cadets and the Senior NCO's (SNCO's). Promotion to Corporal is made by the Squadron commander, in consultation with the other members of adult staff. Selection for Corporal is made totally on merit and not on classification.

Corporals should be able to:
  • Corporals should be able to exercise command and leadership under their control
  • Promote good human relations and morale in their subordinates
  • Recognise the need for dicipline and be able to apply that dicipline with fairness and and common sense
  • Communicate effectivily both orally and in writing
  • Be able to plan an organise a given task
  • Carry out duties of Squadron Duty NCO appropriate to their rank
  • Exercise a responsibility for the welfare of their subordinates
  • Advise subordinates on how their conduct and behaviour is regulated by the Regulations for the Air Training Corps and other relavent Air Cadet Publications
  • Know appropriate regulations with regards to drill, dress, redress of complaint etc

Besides the above, Cadet Corporals are also expected to have a knowledge of the role and organisation of their Squadron, the ATC and RAf and their history. They should have some knowledge of various types of aircraft currently in service with the RAF. Cadet Corporals should keep up-to-date with the regulations published in Air Cadet Routine Orders, Wing Routine Orders and any local orders issued by their Squadron Commander, particularly where these may affect the Cadets in their care.

Chose one form of service and train and/or give practical service to others over 3 months. 

Examples 

Community Service, First Aid, Care for Animals, Life Saving, and many others. 

Service 

Chose one form of service and train and/or give practical service to others over 6 months. 

Examples 

Conservation, Child Care, Road Safety, and many others. 

Service 

Chose one form of service and train and/or give practical service to others of at least 12 months. 

Examples 

Community service, lifesaving, mountain leadership, welfare, youth service training, and many others. 

Expeditions 

After basic training including one practice journey, plan and carry out a two day venture in normal country including one night camping. 

Complete an expedition covering a minimum of 24 km (15 miles) on foot. 
Expeditions on horseback, cycle or by canoe or boat can also be undertaken. 

Expeditions 

After basic training including two practice journeys (one if you have your bronze), plan and carry out a three day venture in unfamiliar country including two nights camping. 

Expedition - Complete an expedition covering a minimum of 48 km (30 miles) on foot. 
or 
Exploration - Complete an Exploration spending more time on a study or activity during the journey. 
Expeditions on horseback, cycle or by canoe or boat can also be undertaken. 

Expeditions 

After basic training including three practice journeys (one if you have your silver), plan and carry out a four day venture in wild country including three nights camping. 

Expedition - Complete an expedition covering a minimum of 80 km (50 miles) on foot.
or 
Exploration - Complete an approved study or other activity in wild or open country including at least ten hours journeying. 
or 
Other Adventurous Project - Complete some other approved adventurous project of an equally, or more demanding nature. In each case there should be an average of eight hours of planned activity each day. 
Expeditions on horseback, cycle or by canoe or boat can also be undertaken. 

Skills 

Choose a hobby or topic to study or some other leisure interest; follow it regularly for six months and improve your skill or knowledge. 

Examples 

Aquarium Keeping, cookery, marksmanship, woodwork, billiards and snooker. 
There are over 200 activities and topics to choose from. 

Skills 

Choose a hobby or topic to study or some other leisure interest; follow it regularly for 12 months (six months if you have your bronze) and improve your skill or knowledge. 

Examples 

Boat building, birdwatching, money matters, playing a musical instument. 
There are over 200 activities and topics to choose from. 

Skills 

Choose a hobby or topic to study or some other leisure interest; follow it regularly for 18 months (12 months if you have your Silver) and improve your skill or knowledge. You can if necessary change your choice during this period. 

Examples 

Moto cycles, fishing, fashion, drama. 
There are over 200 activities and topics to choose from. 

Physical Recreation 

Take up a physical activity for at least six weeks, reach a given standard or show improvement. 

Examples 

Athletics, dancing, yoga, swimming, keep fit, physical achievement. 
There are over 80 activities to choose from.

Physical Recreation 

Take up a physical activity for at least six weeks, reach a given standard or show improvement. 

Examples 

Archery, cycling, judo, team games, diving, trampolining. 
There are over 80 activities to choose from.

Physical Recreation
