The following analysis concerns itself with influences effecting collective Humanity. These influences are impressed directly upon our souls en masse, and therefore their effects are planetary in scope, and for most of us unconscious. They eternally and cyclically propel the rolling wave of incarnate human souls forward on the course of collective evolution.
These evolutionary forces originate within the causal body of Sanat Kumara - our planetary logos - and descend from the cosmic mental plane to eventually take form within the cosmic etheric/physical plane. From here they are circulated within the tropical zodiacal lotus - what we know in the West as the standard astrological circle of the zodiac.
The influences of which we speak, may however also be used creatively (or consciously). They are available to be used creatively by those humans who have evolved to the requisite stage of soul and monadic consciousness. These potentials are also discussed below.

As the planet Pluto traverses through the sign Sagittarius its effects are felt most acutely within the mutable cross of the zodiac (also called 'the cross of the Great Mother'). Each arm of the cross contains one of the signs: Sagittarius, Gemini, Virgo, Pisces.
Generally speaking this is a time of mind expansion for all Humanity. Unity is the goal, but for there to be evolutionary progress the union must be born of universal truth, understanding and love. Therefore, there must first occur the dissolution and dissipation of darkness, illusion and hate. This is accomplished by unconscious Humanity through the phenomenon of projection - a process that naturally requires two opposite poles by which to function - in this case they are the signs Sagittarius and Gemini.
All the astrological planets are conductors of the ADNI current, but Pluto is perhaps the chief exemplar of ADNI in Western astrology. It is the embodiment par excellence of the dark Mother archetype. One way Pluto operates is by focussing the ADNI current through certain karmically appropriate individuals, groups and nations. These entities become unconscious agents - medicaments in the hands of Pluto as it proceeds to apply its poultice to draw out the poison that infects human society. They can also be thought of as being like an immunisation serum. They become living catalysts whose personalities although negatively orientated nevertheless in the course of their earth experience contribute to the greater good. Their human selves (i.e. their personalities) are unaware however, of the ultimately positive influence that they contribute to the evolution of collective Humanity.
In terms of the Sagittarius-Gemini polarity, Pluto in Sagittarius emotionally empowers these dark individuals and groups with a magnetism that attracts like to like. They attract into their sphere of influence the people who resonate upon the same vibration as they do. Thus, there emerges in the world a growing number of pseudo-spiritual, religious and philosophical groups/nations, all with their own charismatic leaders. And thus they become revealed to humanity at large, who eventually understand them for what they are - spiritually detrimental sources of 'knowledge' (i.e. illusion, deception, negative belief systems, laws, and ideologies, etc).
Pluto utilises these group leaders by fanning the flames of their strong desire for personal power, and they become a nexus or vehicle through which the purging ADNI current is focussed into the world. They are physically (or practically) empowered by the people who project onto them (from the Gemini pole) the image of Pluto in Sagittarius. Their devoted followers/brothers, and their adversaries, are symbolic projections of the Gemini twins - light and dark. The dark twin is perceived as being the arch enemy of the group, while the light twin represents the 'chosen ones' - the faithful disciples.
In the same way, but at the individual level, Pluto stimulates our personal subconscious fears and desires. Its goal is to bring them up into our consciousness, to isolate them, to train our focus upon them, so that we can see them for the illusions that they are, and free ourselves from their subliminal control over our lives. This is what Pluto does in all the zodiacal signs.
In Sagittarius the collective fear that is aggravated is the fear of losing one's cherished beliefs, and of being confronted with the new and the unknown. The possibility of 'truth' and 'revelation' becomes threatening to the old order. Quite often our beliefs are very emotionally charged and rigidly held, as any serious religious or political 'debate' will reveal. While Pluto is in Sagittarius these particular fears become exacerbated, and this condition is the underlying cause for the development of fanaticism and the rise of fundamentalist groups today. Unconscious Humanity feels threatened, and is afraid and unwilling to relinquish the safety of its outmoded and false teachings.
As each of these fanatical groups becomes increasingly fomented (or energised) by the ADNI current they begin to fight amongst themselves, killing each other off in their blind fear and emotional fervour. They consequently become highly visible and active in world affairs, and thus cause many people to ponder the various issues involved, and eventually - to search for the truth within themselves. In other words, unconscious projection is ultimately the cause of conscious reflection, and Humanity is impelled to find the answers collectively within itself. Thereby is the Sagittarian expansion of consciousness, via the current of ADNI, achieved.
The 'Way of IHVH' on the other hand, offers a much more enlightened approach to the inevitable change that Pluto engenders. The creative power of Pluto is potentially within each of us but few have conscious access to it because that requires a high degree of soul-consciousness and contact with the monad. Therefore, Pluto's main avenue for creative change is through the unconscious masses of collective Humanity. But this is not to say that individuals and groups who make the spiritual grade cannot participate in the creative process at the conscious level (and therefore by the Law of IHVH).
For when there are no Sagittarian fears/desires within an individual's subconscious for Pluto to stimulate and manipulate, and when the individual has gained access to his/her own source of truth (i.e. soul), and is willing and able to give expression to that truth, then he may contribute consciously, positively, and creatively to the Sagittarian evolution/creation that is currently unfolding upon the Earth. In this case, the individual does not project Pluto, thereby giving away his power to another entity, but rather has successfully integrated the power of Pluto into himself. This is an advanced, and therefore, uncommon state of consciousness and corresponds with the third initiation.
Initiates of the first and second degrees, who are by definition also living the Law of IHVH, make their contribution to the evolution of collective Humanity by using this Sagittarian time to establish firm and continuous contact with their own souls, and especially by seeking to access and harness their own inner source of knowing/knowledge. Projection of Pluto is still a possibility for this group so it is advisable to focus upon the essence/substance of all knowledge and information received, and not upon the personality (charisma, reputation, etc,) of the teacher/messenger.
There is a whole generation of people born between 1957 and 1972 who are now collectively being challenged with their 'Pluto square'. These people all have Pluto in Virgo in their natal charts, and therefore are learning (right throughout their lives) the meaning of unconditional service. This lesson becomes especially intense for them during the current period (1995 to 2008) when transitting Pluto will seek to purify and bring into balance the Virgo-Pisces polarity.
When we have Pluto in Virgo it arouses in us our deepest (most subconscious) needs, desires, fears and insecurities pertaining particularly to the area of 'service and self-sacrifice'. Thus, during our lives, we become strongly motivated by these continuously surfacing compulsions. We are forced to confront the demons of our subconscious and to transform them into light.
And so we find ourselves driven by our fears into situations of service where we effectively sacrifice our own soul. But the situation becomes more and more oppressive and unbearable, and our soul cries out to us for release. We are impelled to question our motives and priorities, and to truly consider the desires of the soul. By overcoming our personality needs/fears; by piercing the veil of darkness that covers the soul; we allow new and deeper desires, those of the soul, to take control of our destiny. We are guided eventually by those soul-desires into our destined place of service in the world. It is then that we experience the joy of true, unconditional, soul-inspired service, and the Pluto-Virgo transformation is complete.
As Pluto transits through Sagittarius, Humanity's basic understanding of life changes and becomes more attuned with universal truth - our minds become opened and the light begins to pour in. At the same time, and because of this new enlightenment, we are impelled to question other areas of our life that do not harmonise with the new truths we are consciously integrating. During this reappraisal of our personal reality the need for change becomes most acutely evident in the area of 'human earth service'. This category includes mundane personal work as well as planetary and galactic service, and everything in between.
Like all three of the heavenly crosses, there is a natural creative tension that exists between the two axes of the 'cross of the Great Mother'. It is being concentrated at the present time by Pluto in the Sagittarius arm squaring the Virgo-Pisces axis of the cross. Basically, the release of this tension involves the resolution of the disparity that exists between our evolving understanding (i.e. our rising consciousness) and our practical experience.
Thus, Humanity in general, and individuals in particular, can expect over the next eleven years to be confronted with the growing need for change in the Virgoan areas mentioned above. During this time the Piscean pole will also become activated. A window into the spiritual realm will open for Humanity, so that we can awaken to our deepest spiritual connection with the Great Mother, and be guided by Her, like the shamans of old, to find out how we can be of true service - how to serve with love and wisdom, the Earth and our fellow Humanity.
