Books by Zecharia Sitchin

Sitchin's most recent book The Cosmic Code begins with a description of a 5000-year-old megalith on the Golan Heights between Israel and Syria. Sitchin calls the site Gilgal Repha'im -- Stones of the Rephaim. He thus links the site to the biblical Rephaim, a giant-like race of demigods who once dwelt in Israel.

Sitchin writes that it is extremely likely that the famed Sumerian king Gilgamesh of Uruk (Erech in the Hebrew Bible) passed through the site in about 2900 B.C.E. -- shortly after unknown men or Nefilim constructed it.

During the visit Gilgamesh was accompanied by his close personal friend Enkidu the Android, who may have lugged some of the stones into a circle in order to provide spiritual power for Gilgamesh to go into one of his patented oracular trances. The Sun Nefili Utu/Shamash appeared during such a trance and told the two how to slay a rampaging robotic demon named Huwawa.

Reading this book makes one realize that Zecharia Sitchin is an Israeli. And in the first chapter of The Cosmic Code Sitchin speaks in glowing terms of Israel's conquest of the Golan Heights as a supreme act of self-defense. Everybody knows that at some point Israel will need to leave the Golan (exchanging land for a promise of peace) but Sitchin is correct in this analysis, one of the few political comments found in his books.

The 12th Planet from 1976 is the book where Zecharia first started getting jiggy with the ancient Sumerians. Quite a feat, considering some of the "black-headed people" (as the Sumerians called themselves) are by now 6,000 years old. Like, that's older than WCW ladies professional rassling champ The Fabulous Moolah!

The Stairway to Heaven

The Wars of Gods and Men

The Lost Realms

Divine Encounters

Genesis Revisited includes a fascinating chapter on why the Soviet Phobos 2 probe of Mars might have gone down. Was it a mere computer malfunction, or did hostile forces, either American or Nefilim, destroy the craft? The chapter is especially timely in light of the recent loss by NASA of yet another Mars exploratory probe.

Who Is Zecharia Sitchin?

Zecharia Sitchin was born in Baku, Russia and raised in pre-State Israel, where he studied the Jewish Bible in its original Hebrew and learned firsthand the history and archeology of the Near East. In his books he translates Sumerian texts so as to highlight the similarities between ancient religious myths and modern day accounts of UFOs.

Sitchin is a former assistant municipal clerk in Tel Aviv and served in the British Army in Palestine during World War II. He immigrated from Israel to the United States in the mid-1950's and worked in the field of conflict mediation for many years.

Now almost 80, Sitchin still writes and lectures on the Nefilim -- aliens from the planet Nibiru who colonized Sumer and Israel in ancient times. The most recent installment of his Earth Chronicles series of books is The Cosmic Code and came out in November 1998.

Letter by Zecharia Sitchin from the cover blurb to a previous edition of The 12th Planet

Dear Reader,
The Earth Chronicles series is based on the premise that
  • mythology is not fanciful but the repository of ancient memories;
  • that the Bible ought to be read literally as a historic/scientific document; and that
  • ancient civilizations - older and greater than assumed - were the product of knowledge brought to Earth by the Anunnaki, "Those Who from Heaven to Earth Came."

Sitchin's First Four Books

  1. The 12th Planet, the first book of the series, presents ancient evidence for the existence of an additional planet in the Solar System: the home planet of the Anunnaki. In confirmation of this evidence, recent data from unmanned spacecraft has led astronomers to actively search for what is being called "Planet X.'' The subsequent volume,
  2. The Stairway to Heaven, traces man's unending search for immortality to a spaceport in the Sinai Peninsula and to the Giza pyramids, which had served as landing beacons for it- refuting the notion that these pyramids were built by human pharaohs. Recently, records by an eye witness to a forgery of an inscription by the pharaoh Khufu inside the Great Pyramid corroborated the book's conclusions.
  3. The Wars of Gods and Men, recounting events closer to our times, concludes that the Sinai spaceport was destroyed 4,000 years ago with nuclear weapons. Photographs of earth from space clearly show evidence of such an explosion.
  4. Such gratifying corroboration of audacious conclusions has been even swifter for The Lost Realms. In the relatively short interval between the completion of the manuscript and its publication, archaeologists, linguists, and other scientists have offered a "coastal theory" in lieu of the "frozen trekking" one to account for man's arrival in the Americas - in ships, as this volume has concluded; have "suddenly discovered 2000 years of missing civilization," in the words of a Yale University scholar - confirming this book's conclusion, and are now linking the beginnings of such civilizations to those of the Old World, as Sumerian texts and biblical verses suggest.
I trust that modern science will continue to confirm ancient knowledge.
