Summary:
Smog-Monster Hedorah is first seen in the sea before Japans coast. He leaves a slimy track, crossing the land and kills some people with his deathray and his poisenous slime. Scientists and authorities donīt know whatīs going on: who or what is this creature and what can mankind do against it? Hedorah is permanently growing to a giant size and destroys two ships in the industrial harbor at Subara. Arriving there he feeds on industrial pollution, which are in the see. With it, heīs still growing to a size of 400 feet. Godzilla arrives just in time at Mount Fuji. And for this time, he has some other tricks for his opponent. He can stick his tail under his body, so heīs able to fly some time! Both monsters meet. Hedorah is now busy with Godzilla, meanwhile a brilliant scientist discovers a method to defeat the monster. With an electric machine, Hedorah shall be destroyed to simple mud. But Godzilla can defeat the monster for his own.
My Opinion:
The movie deals with enviroment protection and this is a special trashy one. Through the large pollution in Japan, the scary creature Hedorah was born. I guess the viewer finds this creature only funny. A giant lump
with red glowing eyes has to be funny, donīt you think?! So "good" the monsterdesign so good is the whole film: not really! Yes, there is a new monster in the series and the fights are well made, too.
But I think director Banno is too moral, so that the fun is sometimes lost. This film is surely matter of taste. It isnīt really bad. Well, heīs some kind of funny, not more not less. Therefore good middlefiled! There are many which are worse! Cooles szene: the disco-sequenz in the beginning! Huah, shake it baby, shake it!
