The
Look Out
By
Ri
She was in her
brand new car on a look out at the crest of cliff over the ocean on the Pacific
Coast Highway. It was a beautiful day. The ocean looked majestic and on the
outside she had everything that should make her a happy woman. She had money,
friends, a wonderful job, a nice place to live and a supportive family. Why then
did she feel that if a wave came up and swallowed her whole she would accept
that fate with out complaint?
The officer sat on
her motorcycle watching the blonde in the brand new Mercedes sports car.
It wasn’t that the young woman had done anything wrong.
She just looked so lost that the officer felt a strong feeling touch her
own heart. It was an emotion she was unfamiliar with and it confused the hell
out of her. She would keep a close
eye on the pretty lost soul.
The girl wasn’t
going to do anything foolish. She
had a life. It was just that she
felt so alone most of the time. She felt like she was taking up some space that
could be filled by a more useful soul.
Suddenly there was
a light tapping on her window that made her jump. She looked up to see a police
helmet and the customary glasses of a motorcycle cop. She rolled down her window
and smiled.
“Yes,
Officer?”
The officer
removed her glasses and gazed at the young woman with the most beautiful blue
eyes that the woman had ever seen. Those eyes reflected concern and compassion
which astonished the young woman.
“Are you all
right, Miss?”
The officer was
taken back by the sudden smile, And once the young woman’s eyes met hers she
felt like she caught in a trap that she never wanted to be released from.
“Um...Yes,
I...guess so. I was just
thinking.”
The officer smiled
sweetly and said; “An hour and a half is long time to think, Miss. You looked
kind of lost...I....can I help?”
The young woman
suddenly felt tears fall from her sea green eyes, “ I
...I’m....so....sorry....”
The door was
suddenly opened and though she knew that she shouldn’t take this action, The
officer followed her heart and embraced the distraught young woman.
She held her close and stroked her hair as she gently reassured the young
woman.
For some reason
the young woman felt very comforted and at home in the officers arms.
Slowly she got a hold of herself and pulled back slightly but she stayed
in the comforting embrace.
“I’m
sorry....I shouldn’t burden a stranger.”
“Hey, Its ok...I
feel...This is going to sound really weird, I don’t even know your name but I
feel... a connection and I just have to help you.”
The officer
dropped her head suddenly afraid of what she would see in those beautiful green
eyes. She heard the stunned intake
of breath, so she gently pulled away even though her heart wanted stay right
where she was.
Surprisingly
strong little arms were around her holding her in place. Then she felt her head
being drawn up by tiny fingers.
“Thank you.
I feel that...a connection too....I...Its exactly what I was thinking
about.”
“What was?”
“I have
everything but someone to share my life with....I felt alone and I wondered if
I should even be here...”
“Yes....Oh God,
Yes you should. Your ....the one.”
Blue and green
eyes met in understanding. Tiny
smiles started to spread on there faces in enlightenment.
“My name is
Cory.” Said the small blonde with a wider smile and suddenly sparkling sea
green eyes.
“My name is
Amelia,” Said the officer with a matching smile and glowing
sky blue eyes.
“Um...Could you
have breakfast?”
Amelia nodded her
head, “Yes, I just need to call in and tell them I’m going to eat.”
“Where would you
like to go?”
“Anywhere, as
long as its with you.” Said Amelia as she took off her helmet and a pony tail
with raven black hair tumbled over her shoulder.
“God, Your so
beautiful.” She said staring at
the tall amazon now standing smiling beside her car. Amelia had just pulled her
hair out of its pony tail holder and she stood there with long hair blowing in
the breeze resembling a Goddess from the books of mythology that Cory gobbled up
as a child.
“So are you,”
Said Amelia as she winked at the beautiful blonde and strode across the lot to
her motorcycle. She called in saying she was going on a breakfast break and then
locked up her motorcycle, locking the helmet to it spot on the bike.
She walked over to
Cory’s car and stood by the passenger side. Cory unlocked it and smiled as the
tall beauty slid in to sit beside her. Cory started the car and drove them
toward their future together.
