Okay this is another place where I've manipulated my mind again. I (please don't tear me apart) don't really think Yuffie's as bad as everyone makes her out to be. Well I also never did the Wutai bit in the game. I was always in a hurry to continue with the game. Yes I know that she's a materia stealing brat, but there has to be more to her than that. I refuse to believe that she can't change. I mean the girl is only 16. At that age girls tend to go through phases. (I know I did) Also why does she always have to be portrayed as a brat in the later stories...change is always possible... Oh yeah, and why on earth do people always put Yuffie and Vincent together?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? |

Oh No, Not Another Love Story...
|
Yuffie stared at the small cup of liquid that sat in front of her. At the moment she had two choices. First, she could drink the foul liquid and be happily mellowed out for several hours. And second, she could spare herself the horrid taste of the tea and just endure her many afflictions. Either way it would severely suck. Tifa had made her the tea. It was the same kind of tea that nurses had given to soldiers who suffered from shell shock. The very stench of the tea almost made Yuffie pass out. She heard a soft giggling and poked her head around the corner. The noise came from Tifa. She laughed lightly as Cloud whispered into her ear and kissed her neck. For a moment Yuffie felt that little pang of jealousy that most teenage girls felt when someone they were attracted to kissed someone else. The feeling quickly went away however. Those kinds of things never lasted too long. Yuffie was surprised that she was even a little jealous. Maybe there was just something about Cloud. If there was anyone here that she had a crush on though, it was definitely Vincent. Every time the dark man strode past, her heart swelled up in her chest and her stomach fluttered. Perhaps she was also being a little too flirtatious, who knows, who cares? Yuffie had about as much chance with Vincent as she did with Cloud, which was up to about zero. Yuffie quickly downed the tea and choked on it. She lifted her arms up in the air to stop coughing. That was one of the many things in life that confused her. Why was it that when you swallowed a drink wrong, you could just hold your arms above your head, and it would stop? Well it didn't really matter how it worked, it just did. Then suddenly the taste hit her and she gagged. It tasted like someone put a fresh cow patty in a coffee filter and handed her a glass of the runoff. That thought sent her running for the bathroom. Cloud and Tifa watched her as she rocketed past them on her way to the bathroom. Once she got there, she proceeded to empty the contents of her stomach into the friendly white porcelain bowl. When she was done she quickly pulled the handle and sat against the wall. Then the pain returned. It was like Barret had rammed his fist into her shoulder and stomach. She used her good arm to tenderly massage the bruised areas. In fact, she considered herself to be very lucky. Her injuries could have been far worse than a few cuts and bruises. She should be proud. They had beaten the bad guy and saved the world. However, she didn't feel that happy. What was she going to do after all of the partying was over? Godo would probably give her a hero's welcome when she came back to Wu Tai. Everyone would appreciate her more than they ever did because she had saved everyone Yuffie leaned her head against her knees and just ignored the pain. What had she really done on this heroic expedition other than bother everyone? Her fighting had certainly been an asset, but she didn't feel how her life was going to change from this. Everyone in Avalanche was walking away from this a changed person. What or who did she have to say that she had changed? She stood up wearily and decided to get some fresh air. After splashing some water on her face (and a large dose of mouthwash), she walked outside into the evening breeze. Kalm was truly beautiful at this time of day. The sun was drifting towards the horizon and sending millions of shades of red, orange, and purple dancing across the sky. Suddenly something at the top of one of the buildings caught her eye. It was a fluttering of fabric in the wind. She immediately recognized it as Vincent, and once again, her heart skipped a beat. Even from here, she could see his face and his perfect features. One of his hands came up and pulled his headband off, releasing his raven hair. She wasn't sure if she should say anything to him or not. It would be rude to interrupt his thoughts with idle conversation. Besides, she couldn't think of anything to say. She started to turn back to the house, but stopped suddenly. It was possible that she would make too much noise going back into the house. However, she would have made just as much noise coming out, so he had to know that she was here. What if he was looking at her? Yuffie stood there for several minutes like an embarrassed schoolgirl. The only thing that pulled her out of her frantic thoughts was a drop of water that smacked against her forehead. Then something happened that she never thought could possibly occur in her life. Vincent spoke to her. "You should go in, it's going to storm." For a moment or two, she stood there thinking of something to say, but her brain registered no reasonable reply other than. "Okay." Her voice cracked as she looked up at him. He made no move to take cover as the downpour began. Yuffie only numbly walked inside. Once she closed the door behind her, she leaned heavily against it, and smiled in spite of her childish crush. Cloud and Tifa watched her curiously as she almost floated to her room in a magical romantic daze. All that she could repeat over and over in her mind was, He spoke to me! |
