Callowland Amateur Boxing Club was formed in 1944, with a view to teach youths discipline, respect and the art of pugilism. With the support of a long-standing committee, Callowland have enjoyed many successful seasons with the last few being the most successful ever. The club has produced three Home County Champions, with men going on to the National Finals. Our boxers were chosen to compete in team events all over the country and even abroad. With such great achievements, the club has seen a steep increase in its members.

Callowland raise money through weekly training fees and boxing shows which we organise twice a year. These events are extremely successful, with boxers competing from all over the country. Our bouts are filmed by 'Sky Sports' commentator Steve Holdsworth with clips of our shows seen on television, including 'Sports Night' and 'A Question of Sport'. The Callowland club committee also contact film production companies hoping to raise further funds by featuring the
Callowland gymnasium for location shoots with previous premises seen in 'Eastenders', 'Silent Witness' and a few documentaries.
Corner work at Callowland Over the last week Callowland has seen Hollywood star Brad Pitt visit our gym researching his latest film role. In his latest film, (directed by Guy Ritchie 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels) Pitt will play the part of a bare-knuckled gypsy fighter and will be a regular visitor to the gym.
'Just for Fun' a recent light-hearted bout at boxing between Professional Boxer Jason Morris and Junior Trainer Ben Pablos Senior Trainer Mr Ricky English moved on to become a professional trainer at the reputable gym 'Junction 5', which shares the same facility as Callowland. Two new trainers soon joined Callowland, Mr Jason Morris who replaced Mr English and Mr Ben Pablos who assists Mr Paddy Sheehan in coaching the under 17's juniors. Mr Jason Morris is a professional boxer with over 60 bouts to his name and he now trains the over 17's seniors at Callowland.
