Venis Rising

Just like love, fan adulation an be fickle. One moment a Superstar may be flying high, then because of their own arrogance, they can plummet to earth. For some, that "grounding" may give them the opportunity to understand just what is really important in their lives. Val Venis, the self-professed idol of the female fans of the World Wrestling Federation, is getting such a lesson.
How did the former Intercontinental and European Champion get his wings clipped? Fans will agree that it started when Venis decided to 'socknap" Mr. Socko. While many could easily excuse the "socknapping" as a harmless prank, after all Mr. Socko was unharmed. Fans weren't so forgiving when Venis decided to burn several copies of Mankind's New York Times bestseller, Have A Nice Day. And no amount of machismo from the former-porn-star-turned-Superstar could sawy even Val's diehard female fans to qickly forgive him.
Having lost the adulation of the Federation's female fans, Val turned to the one woman who would be there no matter what - his sister. Venis was rediscovering not just the importance of family in his life, but also his role of "big brother". Like most overprotective brothes, Venis at first had a hard time acepting that his "baby sister" was dating Edge; that is until she put him in his place and broke the news that Edge would soon be his brother-in-law.
But, a brother's love knows no limits, and Val publicly accepted that Edge would soon be a member of the family. He even went so far as to helping his future brother-in-law -- that's right brothers-in-law, Venis wasn't just getting Edge as a new branch on the family tree, but his brother Christiian as well.
While Val was still reeling from that revalation, his ego was dealt another more serious blow, when Edge informed him on RAW that he had chosen Christian to be his best man. To Val's credit, he swallowed his pride and accepted that revelation politely, even shaking Edge's hand to show that there were no hard feelings - or were there?
Perhaps the greatest blow to Val's ego will be in the vicinity of his manhood. Val, the former adult entertainer, is used to the ladies flocking about him. However, ever since Edge and Christian entered the World Wrestling Federation, these boys have had the girls going crazy over them. Will their popularity with the chicks have Val seething with envy? Or will the generational difference assuge the impact? While the ladies love Val, it is the younger teenage girls who are Edge's and Christian's greatest fans. Regardless, the question remains: will venis really want to be a part of a family where he plays second string when it comes to women? How long could he stand to hear women going crazy over Edge nad christian before it drives him to the breaking point?
How Val Venis responds to his future brother-in-law has big implications, not just for himself or Edge, but for Christian, as well. If venis truly isn't upset about Christian being the best man, the alliance the three could form in the Federation would be a great benifit to all of their careers.
All have been champions in the Federation before and know what it takes to win. And because blood is thicker than water, the teamwork and support they could offer each other would be a huge advantage. Whereas many other Federation Superstars are more individually inclined, this trio could go on to possibly achieve a greater degree of success similar to that of DX - a group that has accomplished a great deal by watching each other's backs.
However, if Venis was merely playing the role of devoted brother to make his sister's wedding a happy occaision, it could spell disaster for Edge. In effect, Edge would be fighting a war on two fronts - against his brother-in-law in the squared circle, and no doubt with his new bride who wouldn't want to see her brother hurt. The "Big Valbowski" has been known for being underhanded, and there's no telling what he could do if pushed. What if he were able to disclose some deep, dark secrets about Edge or Christian - information that he might receive unknowingly through his sister?
With knowledge comes power, how Val Venis chooses to apply his newly learned self-knowledge and the knowledge of his extended family may very well determine just how far Venis' star will rise this year.
