GOEROE WILLY WETZEL
|
Poekoelan, a unique Indonesian combat fighting system, was brought to the United States in 1956 by Goeroe Willy Wetzel. Goeroe, a ninth degree Golden Dragon, is recognized as head of the Poekoelan Tjimindie Tulen System. He was by far the most accomplished and humble teacher that I have ever had the priviledge of meeting. Goeroe was born on January 23,1921 in Indonesia, and he passed away on March 17,1975 in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania.

Poekoelan was developed in the small town of Tjimindie, in West Java. A Chinese Master, Oei King Boen and an Indonesian Master, Mas Djot-Bang Salimoen combined Chuan-Fa and Poekoelan to make the Poekoelan Tjimindie System.
Poekoelan means a series of blows with returning hands and feet. Tjimindie means beautiful
flowing waters, which symbolizes the continuous graceful flowing movements of the Poekoelan
practitioner.

THE ROSE!
|
The symbol for Poekoelan is the Rose, mounted on a black background bordered by two pieces of Bamboo. In a strong wind, an Oak will fall and break, but the bamboo will yeild to the wind and snap back fiercely. The black sybolizes the mystery and secret powers. The rose is the beauty and grace of the art. . . but remember, the rose's concealed thorns and the deadly effectiveness of Poekoelan.
