I don't know how it happened
It happened all to fast
One moment we were cheering
The next there was a Crash
One Team was celebrating
as they crossed the finish first
another team was witnessing
the one thing they fear worst
Now there is no time for celebrating
for the news had traveled fast
the man they all respected
is not expected to last
Running hard through 3 and 4
protecting his chosen 2
The man in black as he was known
New exactly what he had to do
And that is when it happened
at the start of that race year
he was doing what he loves the most but.....
where do you go from here

Now we are hot the only ones
who have lost someone we love
there are children and a wife out there
that he now looks on from above
And they are asking the same thing
at the start of a new day
the man they loved is gone from earth
but he is in their hearts to stay

Their are two loving daughters
one grown and on her own
the others just a child

on daddy's favorite track
he needs to be alone out there
to ponder his attack
He knows he has to do this
one last chance to make it right
do what daddy always said
sit back and hold on tight
The fans are screaming loudly
in the grandstands
of this famed track
as the chosen 2 are once again
in front of the whole pack
The Finnish is all Earnhardts
as he rides around this track
thumbs up and rubbing tires
is the choice of the congrats
He slides onto the front stretch grass
his daddy sits right there
and even though he's not alone
where does he go from here

HE REACHES UP TO WIPE THE TEARS AWAY
THERE'S NO MORE NEED TO EVEN CRY.
He gives a holler and a yell
throws up a fist to the crowd
and all the fans are now at peace
Dale Earnhardt Jr's made them proud
