THE ANGELS IN OUR LIFE
SHE WENT BY THE NAME OF JEAN

Everyone who knew her fell in love with her. From the time she was born everyone knew that she was special. Being born 2 months early meant no fingernails, no eyebrows and no eyelashes; and she was so small she fit into a shoe box. Every step of the way she fought for her chance to live. The Doctors didn't give her much chance to live and boy did she prove them wrong. Just look at that face, how could anyone resist it. She was like having triplets, always into things.

JEAN ENJOYED THE FINER THINGS IN LIFE

Jean and our mother were always gadding about. She didn't let the Down's Syndrome slow her down: to be exact, she adamantly denied having Down's Syndrome. She could read and write but, she was only allowed to go to the 6th grade before they sent her to a special school for children with disabilities. I remember how cruel kids would be to her and I was always getting into fights when they would treat her bad or tease her. We were constantly fighting, but that is what sisters are all about. In the end we always stood up for each other.
Jean loved to go to Bingo and she had the luck of the Irish. You didn't want to be sitting next to her when she yelled "Bingo". She let it be known that she had won. And how she loved the horse races. She had that same luck no matter what she played, be it cards, horses or bingo.
She loved the Beatles, the Monkeys and John Wayne. Loved to watch movies and could tell you what the names of the movies where that John Wayne acted in. I think that is because if she had been a boy, her name was suppose to have been John Wayne.
We all miss you so very much Jean.

HER LIFE IN THE NURSING HOME
She was in the nursing home for almost a year and a half. She hated it and wanted to go back to her home before she was disabled. With the Down's Syndrome, the spinal column deteriorates in some of the children and Jean's went to far before it was diagnosed. She was wheelchair bound and she didn't like it; but who could blame her. We have to realize that sooner or later we can't do for our loved ones everything that we want to be able to do. I hated Jean being at Red Rocks. She was a fighter from the day she was born till the day she died. I have to say that if Jean had not been in my life, I would have missed out on one of the best persons God put on this earth. She enriched my whole family's life and she taught my children and grandchildren to stand up for those who can't stand up for themselves.
