The arrows in the MRI on the top show a demyelination of the descending Corticospinal tracts in a patient with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). The high intensity compared to the surrounding neural tissue is due to an increase in the amount of water in the tract as the myelin degenerates. |
