Introductory Comments I have nothing to sell. I make no gain by your visiting my web pages. If I cause you to consider slightly even one little idea that I have gleaned over 65 years of living, then my time will have been well spent. If you enjoy being here, I am successful. In fact, I would be happy if you enjoyed yourself while reading here. This site is where I post and publish things that interest me. I write some home-grown poetry, usually about family life and such other things that interest me. They have proven to be enjoyable to some. You my find this to be true, as well. I don't consider myself to be a poet, but I have feelings, and I can write. Thinking people have opinions. Being one of these, I write essays and comments about a variety of subjects, and these are posted on my site. I write about politics, religion and education. I do this mainly for entertainment and educational purposes. I may write things you don't agree with, which is to be expected among thinking people. Thinking people often disagree about things. The public forum we live in, in the United States of America, and the fact that we have freedom to think, speak and write, make it inevitable that we would disagree on certain things. One thing we can agree on, and that is to be kind to one another. We should be kind and respectful of each other's opinions, beliefs, and ideas. I don't mind discussing any topic. I am not hung up on religion or politics, and, I have changed my opinion many times as I search for the "truth" for my life. I do not believe in "politically correct" speech, or "lists of forbidden subjects." So, I may tread at times on your sacred ground, but, you being a thinking person, I am sure you can handle it. People who cannot handle controversial subjects, and do it with grace and kindness, well, I probably don't have much to say to them. I have been an educator all of my life, and would not think of giving any sort of advice or direction in any other field but in education. This is the field of my life and training. I have a lot of opinions in the fields of religion and the political arena. My interests and reading have taken me into these areas with some depth. I often don't take the common approach on some of the lively topics of the day. You may enjoy some of my views about how government is operated in this country, and about some of the actions and decisions of the people in our government. These are just my opinions, and are not to be considered advice for any person at any time. But, in the field of education, I will give advice. Many educators, I am sorry to say, in today's world are pure knuckleheads. I sometimes roast knucklehead thinking, in education, politics, religion and social issues. I do a lot of genealogy work with the Whatley surname and related surnames. You will find a lot of Whatley genealogy on this site, if you go to the table of contents, and then go to genealogy. I have over 37,000 names in my genealogy database, and about 6000 of them are of people who bear, or bore, the Whatley surname. I will be posting more of these as time goes by and I have the time to process and prepare the lists. It was the pleasure of my wife, Thelma, and me, to retire from the world of work in June of 1999.
