He graduated from Kemper Military Acadamy in Booneville, Missouri. He also attended Kansas State and Wichita State Universitys, as well as Kansas City Accounting and Law School. Although, most of my grandfather's family was here in Kansas, he spent most of his formative years, in Missouri, with his father, Sylvester Harrison.

He did return to Sedgwick county, Kansas by 1924, and spent the remained of his life as a resident of Sedgwick county, Kansas. Carter, was most people refered to him, became a Democratic Politician, remaining active for at least 30 years. He held various positions, but was probably best known as a Safety Consultant for the Kansas Highway Safety Commission. He served one term in the Kansas House of Representives from 1935 - 1936 And he ran for Congress in 1950.

Carter, was said to have been a stunt pilot, although I have found no proof of this claim. He was a thrill seeker, so the claim, which was made by my grandmother, would not surprise me one bit. He was a man, who would take me on Roller Coaster rides, so he would have an excuse to ride them! Carter was also a Shriner. He put his love for Magic to work with his involvement with the Shriners', and taught children about traffic safety, with Magic tricks. He was well known in this county, in earlier days, for his "slight of hand" antics. And was known to have been paid $50.00, for private preformances, in the early days

He was a kid at heart, and lived life to its fullest. Ralph Carter Harrison, died in Topeka, Kansas, Sept. 9th, 1963, of a Heart attack. He was there for the Shawnee County Fair, as a shriner. At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife, his daughter, 3 grand-daughters, all of Wichita, Kansas, and 3 half brothers in Rolla, Missouri. .
