The motorcycle (I love this thing!) can only be ridden while escaping the Shinra Building, and at the Gold Saucer Wonder area. Though it looks cool, it can not be used on the World Map, and has no purpose other than the above listed areas.

The buggy is a hover vehicle that can travel over land and shallow parts of rivers. You can even enter Costa del Sol and Junon by buggy, by hitching a ride on the 'Cargo Ship'. The buggy can also go over the desert surrounding the Gold Saucer.

The Tiny Bronco, once a proud airplane belonging to Cid, can now only travel in shallow water (light blue, next to shore). It will get you places that you could not access before. You can only enter and exit the Tiny Bronco on a beach.

The Highwind is by far one of the best vehicles you will obtain in Final Fantasy VII. Although it can fly anywhere on the map, it can only land on grass and near the Forgotten City. So some places may still be unreachable until you obtain the right transportation. You receive the Highwind after Tifa escapes from Junon while Weapon attacks.

The Submarine is the only vehicle that can go underwater. You travel above water, but only in the dark blue parts that the Tiny Bronco could not enter. Though it is not one of the most used vehicles, it is necessary to get the Huge Materia, Key of the Ancients, and to reach the crashed Gelnika. You can only exit the Submarine in bays (like the one next to Junon). You get the Submarine after you steal it from the Underwater Reactor in Junon.
