The Battle of Copenhagen April 2. 1801.

Slaget på Kjøbenhavns Red 2. april 1801.

Just before the 200'th anniversary of the naval battle off Copenhagen in 1801, I made a reference page on related online resources. I have tried to compile a list of some sites that contain useful info, there are many others of course.

If you know of other good pages on this subject (or the attack in 1807) please mail me:

The site Danish Military in the Napoleonic Wars has an exellent page on The Battle of Copenhagen 1801. Including pages on the background for the battle, and lists of both the Danish and the British vessels involved in the battle.

Gert Laursen's Danish Military History site has several pages on War with England 1801-1814. The main page of the section also cover the battle and peace agreement of 1801.

The Danish Orlogsmuseet (Royal Danish Naval Museum), has a good page on Denmark and Britain 1801-1814, including the battle.

The Norvegian Marinemuseet (Naval Museum) also have a Slaget ved Københavns Red page in norwegian.

Det Søndenfieldske Frivillige Musqueteer Corps's Primary Source collection has the reports from Fischer and Nelson in norwegian.
Vice Admiral Horatio Lord Nelson KB site has Nelsons report in English and a The Battle of Copenhagen page.

An online book Fra Krigens Tid (1807-1814), Bidrag til den norske Marines Historie by N. A. Larsen, has a chapter on the battle titled 'Jochum Nicolai Muller'.
2nd.Lt. Muller commanded the barge 'Hajen' (the Shark), against the Ship of the Line HMS Glatton. The Glatton was, by the way, commanded by Captain William Bligh. Bligh is probably more famous (or infamous rather...) as the captain of HMS Bounty during the mutiny in 1789.

Other pages
The Nelson Society, page on Copenhagen 1801.
Battle of Copenhagen
The fortress Trekroner.
