I'm always uneasy about these cartoons. The visual metaphor of the earth being crumbled away is appealing but inadequate, and all the humans (not just one group of them) are shown messing around on the surface of an inanimate planet that is entirely separate from them. The cartoon also seems to imply that Earth Day does absolutely no good -- and that isn't really fair.
