The Bison Band and the wasteland.

As a work stop over, the bisons set up shop in a small wooded area. The river is full of steelhead, but they did not offer their lives to us. Not that we would have taken them, we have chosen to allow our hunger to drive our need to take the offerings of life from other animals in this community of life. We did discover three new plant spirits to help us in our journey: Pearly everlasting, oxeye daisy, and although her spirit was strong the adult devil club offered some of her bark for our headaches. We traveled through the clearcut looking for signs of the rejuvenating power of the community of life, but taker civilization is strong, and it's need for wood is all consuming. The one-who-flows-through-all-things spoke quietly in this wasteland, but after a couple days we heard the voice tell us our time to move on had arrived. Thank you to the Sitka spruce for our warmth and cooking fuel, thank you to the animal people, the crane, steelhead, woolybear caterpillar, raven, and deer, plus all the wonderful fungus and lichen for holding on to that last piece of woodland, I pray the takers will leave you be.

The bison are now on the way to the next stop, which will either be Bogachiel state park, or the next stop, Campbell tree grove, the gods will tell us which, and we plan on building our village center, open for all, full of prayer and dance.

Until next time, Bison Band, beyond civilization.
