HASEGAWA 1:72 FW 190A9/F9

Kit:  Hasegawa Focke-Wulf Fw190A-9 F-9 - #SP119

Parts: Four sprues of light grey injected molded plastic in typical crisp Hasegawa plastic.  Nicely detailed, fuselage halves separate with sidewall detail included.  Clear sprue has two parts, windscreen and main canopy.  A Separate bag contains metal prop blades and fan which enhance the kit.  The major wing component is one-piece with belly section to be attached to the underside of the fuselage halves.

Options: The "Galland" (??) hood is a separate piece and provides a good option for the kit.  There is also a variety of stores specific for the versions to be built, including four small bombs and one larger centreline bomb or drop tank.  The bombs are for the F9 variant.

The Cockpit tub includes a lot of molded on detail including rudder pedals. Instrument panel has console detail.  Decals for console detail too as is the norm with Hasegawa kits.

Instructions:  What can I say but other than they are standard Hasegawa fold out form with clear assembly steps, the three view marking diagrams for the versions in the kit, sprue diagram, brief history and also tell you what parts to use for the different versions.

Versions:  There are two schemes  provided for by the kit which are of course an A-9 or F-9.  The first is JG.301 example in the standard mottling scheme of RLM 74/75/79 and red/yellow fuselage band.  The F-9 example is from an unidentified unit and wears the mottling RLM 82/75/76 scheme with a yellow nose cone.  Neither of these schemes matches what is on the boxart!  From the centreline tank shown it's an A-9 with a different scheme and markings.

Decals:  Typically Hasegawa, a little on the thick side and of a semi-gloss appearance.  Swastikas are included along with a small amount of stencilling.  Overall nothing you wouldn't expect!  Two aircraft are available.

Impressions:  Really the impressions are that this is a typical great little Hasegawa offering that should build up into a very fine example of this prolific and important Luftwaffe fighter of WW2.  Looking forward to building it and expect very few hassles! Recommenced to all modellers.
