Timber Frame Homes. By Chet Sinclair

The golden yellow pine glows in the morning sun. It's raising day in New Hampshire.

With the first bent in place and held with struts, the second bent follows along within the hour.

The " Raised Cape " starts to dwarf the men as they piece together the dominant structure.

The 25 ton crane hardly notices the 2500 pounds of rafters 20 feet long and spanning 28 feet to create the 12/12 pitch.

A timber frame raising brings out a true sense of team work, because even with a crane it takes friends and neighbors to make it happen.

Anticipation builds as things come together.

The two end bents were assembled on the deck of the home and were raised all in one piece, and altogether about two tons of green " white pine ".

There are few feelings in life like the one after a ten hour day with something this grand to show for it.
