![]() Okay, here's a Roswell fix for those of us who hate not having a Roswell episode (any Roswell episode) tonight. Finally, Part II is up. Sorry, this is a little late. I was aiming for this past weekend, but Christmas shopping got the better of me.
This is another segment of a continuing story. If you haven't read Part I, then you need to read it first. Search under Storyline and Momo to filter out unwanted threads.
Also check out storylines Max & Liz (Parts I & II) and Who Am I (Parts I & II) for background info since there are characters introduced here that are not part of the original series.
Keep in mind that this is a made up story and NOT a transcript of an actual episode.
Enjoy! Comments always welcome
"Who ARE you?" asks Tess. "We've already been introduced," said Serena. "But I think you already know the answer to your question."
"You have something to do with the Granilith."
"That's a start."
"It's a guess."
"I don't think so."
Tess looked uneasily at the woman who seemed familiar.
"Have you seen Kivar?"
"Why would I have anything to do with Kivar?"
Serena smiled.
"You don't remember everything, do you?"
"None of us do, only flashes."
Serena nodded.
"You remember more, though ..."
Tess looked away.
"I thought so."
"What do you want with me?"
"You hurt the King."
"I would never hurt Max," protested Tess.
"Wounded him severely," continued Serena.
"No!"
"You and Vilandra."
"No!"
"You love the idea of power."
Tess was silent, unsure of herself.
"You don't deny it. So you know you have that in you. And you had power ... as the queen. You liked being queen, didn't you?"
"I don't remember."
"Your memory was always a little too convenient."
"Why are you here?"
"Not for you. That's for someone else. I'm just here to give you a little warning. Don't interfere with destiny."
Tess looks puzzled.
Liz and Max curled up on Liz's bed. Her head rested on his chest and she felt safe in hearing the strong, regular beat of his heart. It felt real to her, in a week that had been so unreal. This just felt so right ... so normal. ... "Liz, are you awake?" whispered Max.
"I thought you were asleep."
"I was thinking."
"About what?" she asked, turning her head up so she could see his face, which was so beautiful to her.
"What I may have done to you ... when I healed you."
"It's okay, Max ... really. You saved me. I would have died if you hadn't ... I don't understand what it really means ... you know, how I'm different. ... I just wish Ava had said more."
"I don't have an answer for you."
"I know. I just get a little scared sometimes ... and seeing my sister ... and knowing that it could have been me ... and that it COULD be me. I feel I have almost as many questions about myself as you do about yourself."
"All I know for sure is that we are meant to be."
"You and I ... it feels right ... but there's Tess and the book. ... You can't deny ..."
"I saw something ... from the past," Max interrupted.
Liz propped herself up more so she could see Max's face, full on. Max peaked her curiosity.
"This oracle told me my fortune ..."
Liz smiled.
"What?"
"Nothing. ... Maria just took Alex and me to see this fortune teller in Hondo a few weeks ago. Go on."
"I saw you."
"Max, you couldn't have seen me," Liz said skeptically.
"No, it was you," Max insisted. "I saw my death AND my future. ... Liz, you ARE my future. I've never been more sure of anything in my life."
"And you've been looking for me all this time." She remembered how Ava said that Zan was looking for someone; how he never really loved Ava.
"Yes."
"Madame Vivienne ... she said we'd be together."
"Together one," said Max.
Several hundred miles to the west, Doctor Menzes is catching some much needed sleep. He'd been at the hospital, having just completed a double shift and now he was dreaming ...
"Doctor, doctor ..."
"What time is it?"
"I'm sorry to wake you ... but ..." said the nurse, hesitant to continue.
"The Parker girl ... she's missing."
Tess couldn't sleep; she couldn't concentrate. She had tried to dreamwalk Liz, but she failed miserably. Something or someone blocked her. Serena or Liz? She hated not being in control of her situation. She needed to find out what was going on with Liz. How could this human be so important? What could she possibly do? Worse yet, why did she feel so threatened by Liz? Liz loved Max, Tess knew and Liz would willing to sacrifice everything for Max's benefit. Tess wasn't sure she'd go THAT far. She had a certain survival instinct, but she would do just about anything to hold on to Max. Max gave her life meaning ... and there was her own family to consider, that family from the past that she hadn't seen for so long. Roswell was home for now, but not forever.
Liz woke with a start. She heard a phone ringing somewhere, but it wasn't hers. She heard her mother's voice, outside the door ... from her parent's bedroom? Light filtered through the window.
Max remained asleep beside her. She nudged him gently until he awoke.
"What is it?" he said.
"Shhh," she warned. "My mom's up. You've got to go."
Quietly he slipped from the bed, picked up his shoes and leaned over to kiss Liz. A moment later, Liz watched as he slipped out the window and disappeared from view. Liz pulled the bedcovers up tight around her shoulders as she heard a knock at her bedroom door.
"Maria," shouted Amy DeLuca, "telephone."
"Who is it?" said asked.
"Someone by the name of Brody."
"Brody," said Maria, pleasantly surprised.
"Hurry up," said Amy. "I'm cooking breakfast."
"Okay, I'm there."
Maria comes in the kitchen, toweling her hair.
"Hello?"
"Maria, I wanted to show you something. Can you come over?"
"I'm eating breakfast."
"Say, half-hour ... an hour?"
"I can't stay long. I'm working."
"Great. It won't take long."
Liz's mother is standing in the doorway of Liz's bedroom.
"What did you say to Rose," asked her mother.
"What do you mean, say?"
"That was Doctor Menzes. He said you had been there."
"Oh."
Liz was silent. She had planned to tell her parents; she had questions, but now she couldn't say anything. Why was SHE feeling guilty?
"Rose is missing," said Nancy, a bit frustrated by Liz's silence. What did you say to her?"
"Missing?"
"Honey, your dad and I have been going to Phoenix for years and she doesn't respond. One visit from you and she's gone "
"How could she be missing?"
"What did you say?"
"Nothing. ... I just told her I was her sister. She didn't react."
"That's all."
"I told her I'd come back," Liz added, but knew there was more. You ... king ... crystal ... one. It was a prophecy ... like Max's oracle and Madame Vivienne. "I have to find her."
"No," said Nancy, "It might not be safe. I've already called the sheriff."
"Mom, she IS my sister."
"We don't have any idea where she's going."
"She's coming here."
"How do you know that? She doesn't even know where home is."
"I just know."
Maria and Brody are at the UFO museum. Brody is pointing at the computer screen.
"See that?" he said excitedly, "There is something going on. That signal comes from the same location as the signal in May. It's got to be a fixed location. If I can zone in on it, I can pinpoint the location within a few feet!"
Maria is alarmed. What if he found the location of the pod chamber? But who initiated the signal. Max, Isabel and Tess wouldn't be so foolish to use the orbs again.
"What kind of a signal is it?"
" It 's different from the first one. This is a continuous drone. ... It's almost like listening to an air conditioner or a dryer."
OMG, someone's found the Granilith, thought Maria. Don't panic.
"Maybe Max can help you figure it out."
"I can't wait to tell him!"
"Tell me what?" asks Max as he enters the room.
Serena knew it was a risk to start the Granilith, but she needed to check its condition. It had traveled well, she thought. It seemed in fairly good working condition. So far, she had detected only one major problem; she wasn't sure how she was going to fix that. She cut the power. Well, she needed Liz. It was then Serena heard the quiet footsteps.
"Tess, isn't it?"
"How did you know," said Tess, coming out from the shadows.
Serena shrugged.
"You made the Granilith, didn't you?"
Serena smiled.
"What does it do?"
"I can't tell you that."
"I could make you."
"Why do you want to know?"
"To tell Max."
"He already knows."
"No, that's not true. He doesn't."
"Only three people know. Max is one. It's here," said Serena, pointing to her brain.
"You know."
"That leaves one."
"Liz. ... How can she possibly know? She's human!"
"Precisely! So you do know more than you let on."
"I don't understand."
"It's not your place to understand. It's hers."
"Max and I are meant to be together. It's written in the book!"
"Had we known then what we know today, that book would never have been written."
"You made us ..." said Tess, in an almost inaudible whisper.
"And what's made can be unmade. ..."
"I won't let you."
An energy field engulfs Tess. She tries to break out, but without success. Her powers cannot penetrate the shield.
"Or it can be changed ... into a separate destiny," says Serena.
There are a few stragglers for the breakfast crowd, lingering over cups of coffee, last bits of pancakes and toast. Liz is setting up tables for lunch, while Maria is drying glasses. Maria is concerned about the possible discovery of the Granilith. She's waiting for Max to come in and tell her the worst possible news. Liz is wrapped in her own thoughts when the door opens. Maria looks up, expecting it to be Max. It's not, but she can't believe her eyes.
"OMG," she says, a little too loudly.
Liz looks up and sees everyone staring at the door, odd expressions on their faces. She turns around and there, standing before her is Rose, looking every bit as live and lucid as she.
