Skinning the Surfance, Part 1 Banner

When I'm looking at eppys of "Roswell", I'm always nagged by those "little questions" in the back of my head.

You know ... like "Where is Maria's dad?", "Where's Milton?", "Why was Whitaker keeping a file on Courtney?", "How come Max, Isabel, and Michael left Tess in the pod chamber after they hatched?" ... Is there any sense to it?

So here's ANOTHER theory about what may have happened and what might happen. In a previous thread, I made a case for the Skins setting up a manufacturing plant in Roswell for the production of skins using human donors (alien abductees like Brody perhaps).

But let's take it one step further. Suppose INSTEAD of manufacturing skins, they were actually TAKING the skins of their human donors/alien abductees (a sort of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" take). On what basis can we assume this? Well, Whitaker said that they couldn't exist here [meaning Earth] in their natural state. "We don't have the DNA." That means that the skins may be unable to graft human DNA into their own biochemistry. So they have to do one of two things.

1. Manufacture skins using skin tissue human donors/alien abductees (as previously outlined in a different thread) as a covering.

Or, they have to do something far more sinister ... and here's the new theory:

2. They literally have to consume the human donors and take their skins to house their alien natural state because the SKINS CANNOT EXIST ON THEIR OWN. The human skins (or outer shell) then become receptacles for The Alien Skins. However, since the Skins do not have the DNA, then they are unable create a granulation-type skin tissue which allows for the two foreign skins to heal and knit together as a healing wound would. That may explain why layers of epidermis are periodically shed. And since they,

I surmise, cannot stay permanently in their hosts, they must periodically search for another until the 50-year life span is reached.

What does that mean in terms of missing people? It means that ...

1. The Skins are kidnapping humans for medical experimentation to make it possible for the Alien Skins to live on Earth as well as looking for the Royal Four and the Granilith (sp?).

2. The Skins are killing humans and replacing them into the population with Skins bearing their likeness.

So it sets up the possibility that Maria's Dad, Courtney, Whitaker and yes, Maybe even poor Milton, were originally humans that have been killed and/or replaced by Skins.

So here's the possible storyline:

Flash to the past. Little Maria watches as her father walks toward his car. She can only see the back of him and her mother, Amy, standing in the yard. When he gets into the car, she notices his boots. The toes are tipped with silver and they are made of snakeskin. There's a shot of a Dalmatian dog by Maria's feet, head across red sneakers. Somehow, the dog knows there is something VERY wrong. It whimpers as Maria watches the car drive off.

Back to the present. Liz and Maria are in Whitaker's office. It's after school hours. They are beginning to go through Whitaker's files, looking for clues before Whitaker is reported missing. Michael and Max come in and start helping with the search. Michael looks through Courtney's files and tells about his encounter with Courtney in the alley and her story about Whitaker watching her because she was involved with her stepson.

Liz immediately recognizes the lie and tells them that Whitaker wasn't married ... that she WAS, in fact, dating the real Pierce, and that she wore no wedding ring. Courtney is caught in a lie. Rummaging through the files, they discover that Courtney and Whitaker are from the same hometown. They also discover that the same chemical plant company that is looking to build in Roswell also has a plant in Whitaker's hometown. The gang (en masse) decides to go take a look.

There they discover the real purpose of the plant: A place where they can gather their human abductees to convert their bodies into suitable hosts for the Skins. The human abductees are keep in rows of tubular cells, somewhat like a morgue, where they are kept alive (drugged, suspended animation?) until they undergo "the transformation." Here they find Milton. They free Milton and Milton starting jabbering away. They try to shut him
up but he keeps blabbering away and draws the attention of a man in a hard hat, probably a foreman or security guard. Maria sees him and spots the boots: snakeskin with silver tips. She looks up and there's the image of her father, only it's not ... it's really a Skin! Liz asks her what's wrong as the man begins to approach them. Michael grabs Maria and tells them they have to go. The Skin pulls the alarm and the gang with Milton in tow flee the plant and head for home.

Michael, Maria, Isabel, and Alex take off in Maria's car.

Max, Liz, Tess, and Milton take off in Max's jeep. Milton tells them about how the Skins tried to buy the center, but Milton wouldn't sell, so they abducted him. He tells them how they forced his signature on the sale documents, and that a proxy, in fact, sold the center to Brody, an alien abductee, unwittingly controlled by the Skins. Milton looks at Tess and asks Max who she is. There's a quick flashback to the pod chamber when Max, Isabel, and Michael leave without her. Max tells Milton she's a friend. Milton tells Max he's seen her before. Liz looks at Tess. Tess is very quiet.

End of Part I of a possible two-part episode. Part two to follow shortly in new thread. Sorry fellow Roswellians to leave you hanging, but I have to go back to work. I promise to post soon for the big finish!
