The Night The Light Went On In Long Beach
On May 12, 1974, a California concert was recorded and turned into a foriegn release, being sold only in Germany, Australia and South Africa. Lynne was not pleased with the album, the quality, or the timing. It is unclear if he even had any say in whether the album would even be released. In any case, Lynne saw the cheap release as potentially damaging- and he fought back with the next album, Eldorado, A Symphony by the Electric Light Orchestra, proving that ELO was much bigger than a bad live recording.
