Not only is Jerry Rice the greatest wide receiver ever to play in the NFL, but his remarkable durability, productivity, and accomplishments make him an obvious candidate as the greatest player the league has ever seen. The 16 year veteran holds 13 NFL records and is still adding more to his great career. Along with records, Rice has 11 Pro Bowl invitations, and has been Player of the Year twice. He also owns 10 Super Bowl records and been named Offensive Player of the Year! In the course of his 16 year career with the 49ers, Jerry Rice went from nervous rookie to elder statesman, and between those two extremes he became the greatest receiver in NFL history. On Sunday Dec. 17th, the 38 year old Rice, the last link to the 49ers' glory years, said goodbye to the home fans for the last time as a Niner, many of whom followed him every step of the way. No matter how well he plays, for whom he plays, and when he will retire, Rice will always be 49er.
