Definitions

Definitions in the making of shots can be numerous or vague, depending on your bar and bartenders.

Bartenders have their own language when it comes to making any style of drink, but when making shots and cocktails, they are a league of their own.

The very different abbreviations used to make a shot, call a shot, what to put in is so numerous that I won't include them here. Remember, I have an E-mail so use it to inform me of the different styles and names you use in your establishment.

1. Float- To float ingredients means to pour the shot in such a way so that the different ingredients will sit separately in the glass.

2. Mix- Not often used as most shots should float, but those that don't will mix anyway. Some shots need to be mixed.

3. Place- Being able to place a liquid in the middle of your drink while still keeping them separate from the others. In effect, floating in between other ingredients.

4. Drip- Being able to make an effect of a few drops inside the drink which will create an awesome effect. Different effect with different ingredients.

5. Rap- Cover the glass with your hand and whack it on the bar hard enough to make the bubbles fizz.
