Mediation is a peaceful way for people to resolve a conflict. Trained volunteers or staff meet with you privately and help you decide how to resolve the situation. Mediation is a peaceful alternative to taking out a warrant or letting problems get worse at school, home, work, or in the community. Mediation is one of several forms of alternative dispute resolution (ADR). Find out more about mediation.

Who uses Mediation?

Mediation has been used by a variety of adults and youth, including friends, family members, parents and their children, classmates, co-workers, and even strangers. Services are available to people eight years old or older who live in or are involved with Putnam County.

When is Mediation Helpful?

Mediation is helpful when a conflict has not been able to be resolved. Although conflict is a normal part of life, sometimes we need help finding solutions. Mediation works when the people involved want the situation resolved and agree to participate. Situations are screened, but have included personal misunderstandings, theft, vandalism, fights, harassment, etc.
