Shinichi Suzuki Sensei
Chief Instructor of Maui Ki
Society
Suzuki Sensei was one of Tohei Sensei's first students
in Hawaii. A veteran Police Officer, (now retired) Suzuki Sensei served
as Otomo to Tohei Sensei for several years and became the principle instructor
of the Maui Police Force. Considered a treasure of the state of Hawaii,
Suzuki Sensei is now Hachi Dan (8th degree black belt) and Okuden in Ki
Development. Suzuki Sensei is known for saying "Breathe, breathe,
breathe!" when asked what to do to increase ones proficiency in Ki-Aikido
and other areas of life. He has done an hour of Ki Breathing
and an hour of Ki Meditation every day for over 40 years. I have
had a chance to spend some time training with and socializing with Suzuki
Sensei and he and his ever faithful Otomo, Chris Curtis Sensei, have made
an indelible impression on me, my study of Ki and Ki-Aikido and my way
of life.
Suzuki Sensei does not travel very much any more,
however, Chris Curtis Sensei has been coming
to the US to teach Seminars. And if you can't have Suzuki Sensei
then you can't do much better than to practice with Curtis Sensei.
