Samurai X
Samurai X
A couple words come to mind after watching Samurai X. Holy sh*#! This is a good anime. It shows like this that originally got me into anime. I had heard the OAV series was good, but not this good.
First off, let me tell you what Samurai X is about. It a ninja anime which is good because the artists and writers put a large amount of effort into this type. It gives the background of Kenshin, the main character in the Rorourni Kenshin TV series, and tells how he came to be. Fans of the TV show with its off beat comedy may be surprised with Samurai X. In fact, Samurai X is the complete opposite with violence on pair with Ninja Scroll or Angel Cop.
Samurai X's story has a seriousness to it though. The violence in the story is justified because it is based on actual Japanese history, so think of it as a Japanese Braveheart. The story follows the adventures of Kenshin as a hired assassin and explains the cuts on his cheeks and his attitude towards life.
What about the art? Well the art was done with a budget as large as Macross Plus was. The action is extremely intense, and everything seems very realistic. If you don't like the story, then just skip to the fight scenes. ADV did a very good job on the dubbing, and I have no problems with the voices.
All in all, Samurai X is a quality show. I've only seen the first 2 episodes, but I can already tell that it's gonna be one of the best new shows of this year. If you're curious about anime than give this a try. It's one of the best I've seen in a while. I give this anime 5 out of 5.
