Liroth
He'd been trying for a long, long time to break the restricting confines of his shell, but hadn't quite managed. Finally however, through much effort, he cracked the shell and shook himself free at the same time as his cream sister. She knew exactly who she wanted and raced away to her Bond before he had a chance to properly look over his surroundings.
When he did, he realized that there was only one human left, a male with odd hair growing on his face. Perched on his shoulder was a multi-colored flit, undoubtedly a rare. Looking over himself quickly, he saw a young green, freshly hatched with hide glistening. He thought himself handsome...but if this man was interested in rarities only, then did he really have a chance?
There were also two dragonets who didn't choose to have Bonds, a red and a bronze. But he didn't want to not Bond, that would be depressing, and besides, he felt a connection to this last human. He wanted to go to him.
The hatchling nodded to himself and crawled over to the man, still weak from his struggle with his shell and hoping to be accepted. It would upset him greatly not to be.
Huhio reached out for him. "Well, I guess we're stuck." The man chuckled, though at what the green didn't know.
He shrugged in response, pleased and relieved. The human did care. "Guess so. I'm Liroth."
It was two nights after the hatching, and Liroth's dreams were troubled. Something was wrong, he knew that much as he drowsily nosed around for his rider, who should have been comfortably curled on the cot next to his own bed with the little flit. When he woke up a bit more, however, and looked around more clearly, the man was nowhere in sight.
Huhio? he cast out tentatively, not wanting to disturb him if he was going to the bathroom or something. Not getting a response, or even a vague acknowledgment, he tried again, and again, louder each time. Huhio? Huhio?! At last he had no choice but to give an outright below, distressed beyond courtesy. HUHIO!
That woke up all the other humans and dragons nearby, as well as quite a few who weren't. He didn't care. He couldn't feel the mind of his Bond. Frantic, not wanting to believe that he was alone, the green jumped from his couch and tried to leave the barracks, only to have the door blocked by other humans who wanted to know what was going on to so distress one of the Caer's newest residents. He shoved at them, trying to get outside, but they wouldn't let him. They were "concerned" about him and wondering why his rider wasn't coming to comfort him.
When the morning came and there was still no sign of Huhio, he was forced to admit that he was alone, all by himself, no longer Bonded.
"I don't care, I don't care, I don't care!" he moaned to himself and to anyone who came to ask him how he was taking all this. The Caerlady was furious at the abandoning, wanting that rider found and found NOW! He wasn't found.
Idon'tcareIdon'tcareIdon'tcare, was the litany he kept repeating to himself, eventually coming to believe it, shutting himself away from others as often as possible to be alone with his misery. A hatchling should never have to go through something so traumatic. No dragon should! But it happened, and when Huhio the Unfaithful left, so did any interests Liroth may have been developing. He mourned his loss, and just...didn't care.
