Dan Blocker is the mighty Hoss Cartwright. As powerful as an ox yet as gentle and as playful as a kitten. Mostly shy with people, Hoss can be a "deadly Component" and is capable of killing a man with his bare hands. The second eldest brother of Little Joe, he and Hoss are the best of friends. Although Joe has the upper hand when it comes to schemes and scams, and often lets Hoss do all the 'dirty' work. The first younger brother of Adam, Hoss often over powers his patronising behavior and stubborn attitudes towards each member of the family, while still being a loving brother and human being.

Dan Blocker was born on Decemder 10 1928. He and his wife Dolphia had four children, David, twins Debra and Danna, and Dirk. Dan died due to a Plumonary Embolus after a goll bladder operation on May 3 1972.
