History: Believed to be born on the planet Naboo, Palpatine became the represenative of Naboo in the Galactic Senate. There, during the Trade Federation's invasion, Palpatine began his rise to power in the Old Republic, aided by Queen Amidala. He had Chancilor Valorum de-throned and was then elected as the new Chancilor of the Galactic Senate. Some years later, Palpatine seduced Anakin Skywalker, Padawan of Obi-Wan Kenobi, to the Dark Side. Palpatine formed the Galactic Empire out of the Old Republic's ashes. After Skywalker joined Palpatine, the newly self-proclaimed Emperor began the Great Jedi Purge, wiping most of the jedi Knights in the galaxy and nearly all of the 12 members pf the Jedi Council. Years later, one of Palpatine's leading officers, Grand Moff Tarkin, came to him with an idea to build the ultimate weapon. The Death Star. For a few years this ultimate weapon was built over the prison world of Desprayer, which was later destroyed as a test of the Death Star's firepower, along with Alderaan. After the Battle of Yavin, when Vader returned to Coruscant, Palpatine was very displeased with Vader's failure and destroyed his right hand using Force lightening as a punishment. Three years later, Palpatine discovered Luke Skywalker, and Vader promised him that young Skywalker would join them or die. A year later, the Emperor personally oversaw the final stages on the Empire's latest super weapon, the Death Star II. There, Palpatine met Luke Skywalker, and tried to turn him to the Dark Side. When Luke refused, Palpatine used his Force lightening on the young Jedi. But was stopped by Vader, who tossed Palpatine over the edge of a nearby chasm into the reactor core of the Death Star to his death.
