Bloopers
Looks like there were a few screw ups! But hey! Nobody's perfect...well...except for some of them guys of course..:-)
~ At the end when they are waiting for all the people to come and strike, Sarah puts her arm around David, then it looks like she's gonna hug him but then decides not to. In that shot he has his arm over her shoulder, but in the next shot she has her arm over his shoulder.
* They seem a little 'physical' for bro-and-sis, doncha think?*
This one's from Jennifer:
~ When the Delancy brothers are taking Crutchy away you can see him quickly switch which leg is the mamed one.
* C'mon! We all KNEW he was fakin it!*
This one's from Kathy:
~ When Sara hands Jack the cake there's no fork on the plate but then all of a sudden he has one.
* Jack used his sOOperpowers and telepathicly moved the fork to his hand!*
Erikasent in these next ones:
~ 1. There was something kinda up between Davey and Denton. I mean, Denton comes up to Davey out of all the crowd of guys and says, "Looks like you're the one in charge here." This is also kinda a blooper, because why would Davey look like he's in charge? He's the one who was saying no all during the song, and then Jack was the one saying all the stuff, and Denton goes up to Davey? Then he asks what's his name, as in David and Goliath, and Davey gives this girlish giggle. Hmmmm... And then, when Denton leaves because of the war job and Davey goes, "Did you get fired?" and then Davey gets all mad, and Denton says, "You don't always get fired." Why would Davey be so mad at this? He seems as if they just broke up or something. And then when Jack and Sarah and Davey go to Denton's apartment, Davey's the last one to go in and he gives this really weird look to Denton (which is another weird observation) and it's just really funny. And then Davey says "But our man Denton is going to be an Ace War Correspondent" he just says it weird. All throughout the movie there are weird things like this happening, but these are the most apparent ones.
*...I think they's in wuv!...gag...*
~ 2. At the very end, when Davey gets 50 papers, it only looks like he has 20.
~ 3. Have you ever noticed that Davey doesn't dance much? You hardly see him in any of the dances.
(*NOTE*: I have the Making of Newsies video and in it David Moscow states that he was the "anti-dancer"...might explain his lack of dancing.)
This next one's from Ashley:
~ When Jack, Davey, and Les are running to see the trolley strike Les is running as fast as he can, but when Jack turns around he says, "Look at this he slept the whole way 'troo it!"
* Poor lil fella! He's pooped!*
Abby sent in this next one:
~ After the Newsies sing King of New York, Specs (cute Mark David) is the very last to get his glass and he reaches over Denton to get it and almost spills it!
Audrey sent this next one in:
~ In King of New York when Kid Blink is about to sing 'a Saturday night with the mayors daughter, right before that Christian Bale is kinda hunched over and you can tell that he is talking to the guy on his right. Maybe he was supposed to, but when Kid Blink does his line, the guy on the right looks kind of surprised.
* He's probably giving autographs away! Everbody loves a star!*
This next one is from Veronica:
~ During the reprise of Seize the Day when all the crowds start coming in, Spot appears in two places within like two seconds. First he is standing next to the newsies, and then he is walking toward them with a bunch of other people.
* MAGIC!*
Jackie sent this one in:
~ At one point during Jack and Pulitzer's heated conversation near the end of the movie, Jack's hair becomes perfect, when the shot before it was really messy.
* Hey, It was an important part of the movie! They had closeups!!!:-)*
These are all from Kim and Lindsey.
~ 1. During "Once and for All", Jack changes outfits in the basement.
* Either that, or he was stripin!*
2. After "Carryin' the Banner", Racetrack tells Weasel to spot him 50 papes, but Racetrack lends Jack 2 bits (enough money for 50 papes)
* So the guy doesnt want to spend his 2 bits at that moment! So what!?!?*
3. When Dave gives Jack his papes back (he doesn't take charity form anybody...) he gives Jack back the smaller half of the stack, not 50
* Dave is cheatin him!!!*
~ When Race goes up to get his papes after Carryin' the Banner, when he says the lines " . . .won't waste ya money" and " . . . not like last time" listen very carefully, in the background you can hear someone say "Jackie just got laid!"
* hmmmm...Sarah? no, Medda, no, Davey?....:-)* ( If you dont have a CLUE to what I'm talking about than GOOD!)
Kelly sent this one in:
~ In the version of Newsies that is played on the Disney Channel, when Jack sings "Santa Fe, are you there?" his voice cracks. But it doesn't in the version that you would buy.
* His voice is changing again!!! Or maybe it cant take all those accents!*
This one was sent by Cortney:
~ During The World Will Know while Christian Bale is writing 'STRIKE' on the chalkboard, one of the newsies below drops his hat, then picks it up before going off to the side.
Thanks to Katie for the following:
~ When David, Jack, and Boots are standing on top of the Brooklyn Bridge about to visit Spot, the camera zooms out on them and you can tell that it goes from a camera to a picture because the light changes and everything stops moving.
* KER-DUH! They arent going to make a whole city to match the late 1800's!*
Thanks to Anna for the following:
~ 1. Kid Blink is late during Seize the Day chorale
~ 2. In King of New York, when they are with Denton, and they tomorrow they may wrap fishes in it, Jack and Kid Blink laugh about something and are late for there spin
~ 3. During Seize the Day, when they show the little kids doing a dance, look at the statue, Jack and Davey do this weird foot dance.
~ 4. When Medda tells Toby to give them what they want, you know Jack wants some of the candy, cause he licks his lips.
* Are you sure it's candy he wants?*
Not a blooper, but an interesting fact that I found at the Official Christian Bale Web Centre:
~ Shay Duffin, who played the pubkeeper in Titanic (you know, the guy who said, "Titanic goes to America...in five minutes!"), played the police officer (Captain McSwain) in NEWSIES!!!
*(Fake excitment) Woo-hoo*
~ In Santa Fe, when Jack gets on the horse, his hat is on his back, and then, in the next shot, it's on his head.
*(rolls eyes) No kidding!*
~ In Carryin' the Banner, when Blink sings "I smell money," you can see Mush with his pants down.
* I gotta look for that!*
~ In Carryin' the Banner, Mush is late during "We need a good assassination".
~ After King of New York, Racetrack is handing out glasses to everyone, but Kid Blink doesn't get one, so Mush shares his with Blink.
* I wont say it!*
~ There are red electric exit signs over the doors during the fight after High Times, Hard Times.
* They had to invent them extra early so people could run out of that whore house in a hurry without getting lost on the way!*
~ When Jack is asking Denton if Roosevelt could take him to the trainyards (at the end), Mush keeps pushing against Jack like he wants to be in the shot.
* Wouldnt you?*
~ During the fight, when Race kicks that guy, it takes a while before the guy actually reacts to the kick.
* He aint very quick in the head!*
~ After Davey helps Crutchy up during Seize the Day, you can see Crutchy walk behind Davey...big deal, right? But Crutchy doesn't use his crutch when he's walking!
* Maybe you just cant see it....you ever thought of that? I'm talking about the crutch, I mean we KNOW he fakes it...but you just cant see it...nevermind! I'm gonna shut up now!*
~ During King of New York, after the guys (lead by Mush) jump up on the table, they all drop down and roll on the table. All except Bumlets. He goes under the table so that he can be spinning on the fan in the next shot.
~ It seems like Mush falls flat on his face during Seize the Day (when all the guys are jumping over each other). You can even hear him yell as he falls!
*.........really?*
~ At the very end, when all the guys are dancing off the screen, look at Denton on the left side of the shot. A little kid comes up to him and asks him to sign something and they start talking. Denton signs it, and gives it back to the kid. Was this supposed to happen or is it a little kid who wants Bill Pulman's autograph?
~ In Seize the Day, the first time Davey sings "Now is the time to seize the day!" and all the newsies echo him, he walks across the screen and does this quick head turn thingy when he reaches the right-hand side of the screen. It's hilarious.
~ When Kid Blink sings "Something to wake me up" during Carryin' the Banner, a kid near him sings it with him.
* Maybe the kid is Mute and wants some coffee!*
~ During the first big fight scene, when Spot swings in on the rope, it's an obvious stunt double.
~ Pie Eater, Dutchy, and Swifty pretend to hang themselves during King of New York when they sing "Pulitzer's crying, Weasel he's dying!"
~ Why does Jack smile and pose willingly for the picture even though he asks Denton not to take any pictures of him?
* That's what I've been wondering!*
Thank you to Jennifer for this observation:
~ During the Newsies rally, right before Spot says "I say that what you say is what I say," look at Jack's face. It's really funny if you put it on pause or play it in slow motion.
Thank you to Aurora for this blooper:
~ When the Delancey's come in during Carryin' the Banner, Jack's laughs are kind of off . It's like it takes him a minute to get the joke or something.
Thank you to Sam M. for this blooper:
~When Boots, Davey, and Jack are on the docks about to meet the Brooklyn Newsies, a guy in white shorts comes out of the water. Now this is a debate-able topic, but look closely as he gets out of the water all wet and wearing white shorts, you might see something you wouldn't expect to see in Disney movie...! ~
If you noticed something or you thought something was funny send it to me!
