Shallow GravePart 12 : The Police Investigation![]() Read the following extract from an interview with Keith Allen, who plays Hugo, and answer the questions which follow it... Keith Allen plays Hugo, whose mysterious death and drug world connections fatally upset the balance of order in the flat. "Hugo's not a killer," Allen reckons, "and I don't think he's essentially a bad person. He's just a bit of a naughty lad, a bit of a shady boy who has dipped his fingers in and got out of his depth. He's got an agenda, that's for sure, but he is also a charmer, otherwise he wouldn't be getting a place in the flat. It's one of those parts where your persona permeates the whole film because you're there as a body for an awfully long time."

A meeting between the two was_________ at the 1991 Edinburgh International Film Festival where Macdonald's short, "Dr. Reitzer's Fragment," was screening. "John had in his hand the proverbial foolscap hand-written notes," Macdonald remembers.
