Jack O'Neill :

Colonel Jack O'Neill's career ended abruptly, but at his own choosing, when his young son Charlie accidentally fatally wounded himself with Jack's gun. Taking a terrible toll on the Colonel, O'Neill resigned his commission, and the accident later went on to cost him his marriage. Though never finding love again (he still loves his wife, Sarah), Jack has come to terms with his loss, partly thanks to his relationship with Skaara, who he thinks of as his own child, and also due to an alien creature raking the form of his son, thereby allowing Jack to make his peace. O'Neill still has a certain affinity for children and will protect them at all costs if he believes they are mistreated. A strong and effective leader, O'Neill also has a sarcastic sense of humor and a dislike of authority figures, save SGC commander General Hammond.

Daniel Jackson :

Doctor Jackson was brought into the SGC by the scientist Catherine Langford in order to help translate an Egyptian cartouche that would unlock the secrets to operating the Stargate. After travelling to a strange planet for translation purposes, Daniel eventually stayed on Abydos with his new wife, Sha're. One year on, he was contacted to assist O'Neill by the simple message of throwing a box of tissues through the Stargate to his new home. Allergic to almost everything, Daniel understood and returned the empty box with the message 'Please send more' written on it. Losing his parents at a young age in a tragic accident when a museum display collapsed and crushed them. Daniel remains alone, and is therefore determined to retrieve his wife when she is abducted by Apophis. He renews their relationship shortly before Sha're gives birth to Apophis' child, as during the pregnancy, Sha're's larval Goa'uld must remain dormant so as not to harm the child. After the birth, Sha're reverts to her Goa'uld self and Daniel must let her go once again.

Samantha Carter :

A surperb scientist with astrophysics as her main love, Sam is very much career military. It hurt that she was unable to tell her father what her job really was thanks to the classified nature of the SGC, but when he lay dying of cancer, Sam offered his his only chance to live: merging with the Tok'Ra Selmak, an alliance that has strengthened ties between the two peoples. Invaded by a Tok'Ra Goa'uld named Jolinar to escape as assassin who eventually killed the creature and left Sam for dead, Cater now possesses many of Jolinar's memories. She can sense the presence of a Goa'uld inside anyone and can also use Goa'uld weapons and healing devices.

Teal'c :

A former Jaffa (a servant of Apophis). Teal'c's firsthand experience of atrocities committed by the System Lord led to him betraying his master and returning to Earth with SG-1. Teal'c carries a larval Goa'uld within him that sustains him and acts as his immune system. Without it, Teal'c would die. His friendship with fellow Jaffa Bra'tac has enabled SG-1 to have a friend on the inside on several occasions, and it was Bra'tac that told Teal'c that his son, Rya'c was to be inducted into the service of Apophis. To save his son's life, Teal'c was forced to give up his Goa'uld, but acquired a new one before he died. Rya'c and Teal'c's wife remain on Chulak. Teal'c's homeworld, where one day Teal'c hopes to return to free his race from slavery.
