SG-1 Cast Biographies

Richard Dean Anderson

Richard Dean Anderson was born on January 23, 1950, in Minnesota. All through his high school years, his goal was to become a professional hockey player. Fortunately for us RDA fans, that did not work out, and upon graduating high school, he attended St. Cloud College and Ohio University, to study drama. Anderson got his first big break in 1976, when he got the role of Dr. Jeff Webber on General Hospital. In 1985 came his most memorable character to date, MacGyver. MacGyver went on for seven seasons, before it came to an end in 1992. Shortly after Anderson signed on to another show entitled Legend. Unfortunately it only lasted one season, and was gone. At present Anderson is playing Colonel Jack O'Neill in the Stargate SG-1 series. He took over the role that Kurt Russell portrayed in the feature film, and added a new comedic twist to the characters personality. I've really enjoyed Anderson's version of O'Neill very much!.

Michael Shanks

Michael Shanks was born on December 15, 1970 and grew up in Vancouver, Canada. When he entered college he was majoring in business, until, ironically he happened on the set of MacGyver. Upon watching the filming, Shanks decided to change his major to the Arts, and enrolled in the program at the University of British Columbia. After graduating in 1994, he appeared in the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, performing in countless plays over the next few years. Shanks has also guest starred on some TV shows, such as, Highlander and The Commish. Now Michael is playing Dr. Daniel Jackson in the Stargate SG-1 series. He took over the role that James Spader portrayed in the feature film, and I must say I enjoy his version of Jackson much better. I truly think Shanks is a great actor, and I'm glad he was chosen for the role!

Amanda Tapping

Amanda Tapping was born in England, and moved to Toronto, Canada, where she grew up. She attended the University Windsor School of Dramatic Art, and performed inquite a few theatrical plays, such as Steel Magnolias. Tapping has also guested on numerous TV shows such as, The X-Files, The Outer Limits, and had a continuing role on Flash Forward. Amanda is currently starring as Captain Samantha Carter in the Stargate SG-1 series. She has originated this role, as it was not in the feature film. I really like her character, she's a strong, self sufficient astrophysicist, and Amanda does a great job.

Christopher Judge

Christopher Judge is a great actor. He attended the Howard Fine Arts Studio, to study drama, and has appeared in many different things. He's had roles on such shows as, 21 Jump Street and MacGyver, and been in films like, House Party 2 and Bird on a Wire. Judge currently plays the role of Teal'c on the Stargate SG-1 series, and does a nice job. Teal'c is also a new character, and Judge portrays him with a dramatic seriousness and a great amount of strengh.

Don S.Davis

Davis is one of those actors that you see all the time, in different movies and TV shows. He currently plays General Hammond on the Stargate SG-1. series. His character replaced General West, from the feature film, and I think he makes an excellent General! Davis has had roles on other shows, such as Twin Peaks and The X-Files. He's guested on many shows as well, such as 21 Jump Street, Highlander, and The Outer Limits. Davis has also been in a great number of films from "Omen IV: The Awakening" to "Needful Things."

Teryl Rothery

Teryl Rothery made her debut on Stargate SG-1, in the fourth episode entitled, The Broca Divide. She plays Dr. Janet Frasier, and does a great job. Rothery is no stranger to the acting business. She's appeared in countless movies, including Into the Arms of Danger, Mother May I Sleep With Danger, "For the Love of Nancy, and No Child of Mine. She has also guested on quite a few shows, such as Dead Man's Gun, The Outer Limits, and The X-Files.
