Angel or Angelus, the one with the angelic face, as he used to be called, was one of the most evil vampires ever. He was sire to both Spike and Drusilla. After feeding on a gypsy girl he was cursed with a soul by the elders of her clan. He stayed to himself until Whistler came to him and told him to make a choice:
Waste away or make a difference?
One look at the new Slayer and the choice was easy...he decided to help her. Not only did he help her, he fell in love with her and on her 17th birthday he had his 1st true moment of happiness in almost a 100 years, and then it was all taken away. The curse that gave him his soul was broken and the demon took control again.
