Carson & Barnes Circus
Carson & Barnes Circus Caught Torturing Endangered Asian Elephants PETA has supplied undercover videotape to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS) and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) that shows Carson & Barnes' elephant trainer Tim Frisco yelling at, cursing, viciously attacking, and electro-shocking endangered Asian elephants. The elephants emit agonizing screams while recoiling from the assaults. Frisco yells at other elephant trainers to hurt the "f***ing elephants until they scream" and admonishes them to use both hands to "tear off (the elephant's) f***ing foot." Frisco warns that they had better beat the elephants so that they remember, because no one can do what he is doing, what they are being told to do, "in front of a thousand people." PETA's investigator also videotapes a handler using a blowtorch on an elephant's skin to remove hair.
As disturbing as this videotape is, the practice of beating elephants into submission to perform in circuses is routine. The USFWS and the USDA have turned their backs on these beleaguered animals long enough. Please write now to end the abuse!

Banned Commercials
BANNED! Watch the PETA Ads the Major Networks Don't Want You to See PETA offers dozens of public service announcements (PSA's) that deliver thought-provoking messages about important animal issues. Some PETA PSA's draw raves-viewers cheered NY Giant's Michael Strahan's plea for neglected backyard dogs, they couldn't take their eyes off Pamela Anderson as she urged viewers to steer clear of leather, and millions reeled in Linda McCartney's message that fishing isn't a peaceful pastime for those who are dragged from their watery homes. But some PETA commercials are blown off by networks that declare, "No airtime! No way!" Some have been called "too risqué." others threaten advertisers that profit from animal exploitation, so the message of compassion for animals gets canned.
But now, PETA TV brings you an exclusive showing of the PETA commercials that the networks didn't want you to see...

Coulston Foundation Violates Animal Welfare Act...AGAIN!
The Coulston Foundation (TCF) is a federally supported monkey and chimpanzee laboratory located in Alamogordo, New Mexico. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has once again cited TCF for violating basic minimal standards of the Animal Welfare Act (AWA). The Coulston Foundation has a long history of AWA violations, but the facility continues to operate.
In the latest inspection on January 16, 2002, the USDA found that the lab has inadequate veterinary staffing, is keeping at least 33 chimpanzees illegally housed in single cages, and does not have a working gas anesthesia machine. It was the 11th finding of inadequate veterinary care in the last four years, including the deaths of at least 14 chimpanzees.
It is time for the USDA to pull the plug on The Coulston Foundation's registration as a research facility. Please write and call the USDA and demand that The Coulston Foundation's registration be immediately revoked. http://peta.org/view.asp?code=aacoulston

This week, PETA TV takes a look at the companion animal overpopulation crisis. Millions of friendly, healthy dogs and cats are euthanized in animal shelters every year simply because there aren't enough homes-and millions more are dumped, forced to try to survive on their own. Spaying and neutering is a simple, inexpensive way to help curb the suffering and deaths.
To date, PETA's very own program, SNIP (Spay and Neuter Immediately, Please), has performed more than 5,000 spay/neuter procedures, ending the cycle of suffering for thousands of would-be offspring.
