All spelling variations and locations for this surname are welcome!

There are two modes of mail: Digest and Regular mode
Digest mode and Regular mode mail has exactly the same messages. How MANY messages sent at one time is the ONLY difference. Subscribing to one mode of mail is all that is necessary.

With regular mode mail you will receive each message that is sent to the list when it arrives.

With Digest mode you will receive a certain quantity of messages sent to the list similar to a "newsletter". How many message you willl receive depends on the configuration of the list, which is my job to maintain. Currently the digest is set to go out every 12 hours OR when it reaches 25000 bytes. With the growth of the list, these settings will change.

** How to SUBSCRIBE **

To subscribe to the list for "regular" MAIL (individual messages), send a message to

Welcome Message for CONAWAY CONWAY Family Discussion Group

I am Linda CONAWAY Welden, the "owner" of this list. That means I'm responsible for keeping it running as smoothly as possible and setting some rules for its operation.

PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS MESSAGE. PRINT IT. KEEP IT HANDY. It will answer just about any question you might have concerning this list and the commands for using it. It will explain the few DO's and DON'T of the list.

"RULES" FOR THIS LIST: If you decide to leave the list, make sure your name and address are removed. The server that sends you this list handles thousands of messages a day. If your address becomes "bad" (for instance, you quit ie. AOL but we think you're still there) then we start getting bounced messages. These are message sent from, ie, AOL stating your mail box can't be found.

Please, try to remember these two addresses:

NEVER SEND A CHAIN LETTER OR VIRUS WARNING TO THE LIST.

Just to get a jump on things! DO NOT Flame members (Send argumentative or critical messages) on the list. If you are flames, do not respond via the list. The best thing to do is
not respond at all. Please remember that NO ONE is perfect. Errors do happen. Most
email programs can send attachments (attached files). Don't send these to the list. This
isn't a problem for the mail server, but these can cause some subscribers' machines to lock
up, make them lose all their mail, even crash their hard drive! People will not be happy if this
happens and it is not a good way to start membership to the list.

A GEDCOM file can be a huge attachment; so can an encoded graphics file. If you want to send them to a member of the list, be sure they can accept them, and read them. THEN
please, be sure you send it to only that person and NOT the list!

The Purpose of this list.

The reason for this list is for discussions on all CONAWAY/CONWAY Families (all variations in spelling) and allied names. This is a discussion group. On occasion someone has information you disagree with, please keep this within the discussion context. Don't argue the facts that the info is in conflict. Verify it for yourself!!!

I encourage all information regarding CONAWAY/CONWAY, etc., to be posted to the list. This includes marriage records, birth and death records, census records, etc. The more we share, the easier accessible the resources will be for everyone! The easier the research becomes!

For your convenience I have started the "CONAWAY/CONWAY Connection Web Page!"
This project has just started so file are minimal at the moment. We will have marriage records, biographies, wills, deeds, ancestor charts, and much, much, more at this site. The pages which
are currently available are 3 Generations of Conaway/Conway/etc. and WEB LINKS

The 3 Generations of Conaway/Conway/etc Page is for researchers to list their three oldest generations of Conaway-etc. I will link your e-mail address as well as any webpage addresses to you line you would like included. If you have a lot of research and many branches, you are welcome to sumit the whole line and I will link it to your 3-Gen submission. Any documentation you would like to include will also be linked so send what you would like included to me!

I have started a CONAWAY, CONWAY, etc database. If you would like to add your information to this database you can do so by gedcom. Submission by e-mail is fine but if you have problems sending by e-mail, let me know and you can send by postal mail. I am also setting up a webpage on the "Conaway Conway Connections" that will list gedcoms available from submitters. If you wish to add your name to this list, make a notation so I will add you. I will only add a notation that a gedcom is available "from the submitter" this way you will know when someone is interested in your line.

POSTING A MESSAGE TO THE LIST

To post a message to the list, send it to

NOMAIL

This is no longer an option. If you are unabel to receive mail for ANY period of time, (vacation, etc.) you must unsubscribe from the list. You may then re-subscribe to the list when you are ready to receive mail again. The commands are mentioned above.

ARCHIVED (saved) MESSAGES

All messages are archived and they are searchable.
